Together, they decided that their goal for 2013 was to grow their businesses through giving each other referrals according to chapter director Tanya Lavoie, they have done just that. The Magnolia chapter has not only grown significantly in members in the past year, but has also become so much more than just a business networking meeting. Chapter Director Tanya Lavoie stated “not only have we grown our businesses, we have grown as individuals. Corny maybe but absolutely true! We have helped each other through everyday life.” The WOAMTEC chapter has become a family that shares everything from divorce, sickness, hospitalizations, empty nesting, and of course many celebrations such as births, graduations, birthdays, and marriages. The WOAMTEC chapter members of Magnolia have leaned on one another in 2013, and as a result have helped each other grow their businesses and improve their lives. Woamtec Magnolia is also focused on improving its community. WOAMTEC has collected over 1,000 pairs of jeans and donated them to the homeless. They have also raised over $5,000 for the American Society for Suicide Prevention, and continue to collect food, toys, and clothing at each meeting for people in need in their community. Director Tanya Lavoie concluded by saying “Woamtec Magnolia is a huge part of my life. I am so glad I joined this group of business owners who have so enriched my life.” "WOAMTEC was created in 2007 to provide a supportive environment for women who are committed to faith, family and career," notes founder and president Kathleen Hawkins. Hawkins says WOAMTEC is continuing to seek dynamic women to serve as chapter directors nationwide. WOAMTEC is headquartered in Longwood, Florida.
