The San Pedro family
is a family with a long viticultural
tradition; they have owned vineyards and made wine for centuries in Laguardia, in the heart of Rioja
Alavesa.
Bodegas San Pedro owns 90 hectares of top quality vineyards, more than any other
bodega in Rioja.
Javier San Pedro, winery’s owner, got his father’s passion for the winemaking. From an early age he got involved in the family business, process
which ended with the creation of its personal project Bodegas San Pedro, in 1987, with the
early age of 23 years.

D.O.Ca
RIOJA
The Rioja DOCa
(Qualified
designation
of
origin) was the first to be established in Spain
and the first to become D.O.Ca.
Rioja DOCa
is located in the Ebro valley, protected by Sierra de Cantabria
Mountain, in la Rioja Alavesa
region.
The climate is affected by Atlantic
and by Mediterranean
influences
(40mm/year), which increase as one goes down the Ebro River.
The soils are composed of clay-limestone and the vineyards are made up of terraces and small parcels.
Vineyards and grapes
All the vineyards are located in Laguardia, a medieval walled town on the edge of the Sierra Cantabria.
The main grape variety is Tempranillo, although there are plantings of Garnacha, all with low yields.
Vallobera
is one of the highest vineyards in the whole of Rioja. Recently the winery planted 10 ha of the unique
white grape variety Tempranillo
Blanco.
Vallobera
means “Valle del Lobo”
valley of the wolves.
