Sodium Chlorate

INTRODUCTION

An organic compound with the chemical

formula NACIO3 is called sodium chlorate.

It is a white crystalline powder that is readily

soluble in water. And It decomposes above

300 C to release oxygen and leave sodium

chloride.

Uses of Sodium Chlorate

Sodium Chlorate has many uses such as: To produce chlorine dioxide

Herbicide

Chlorine dioxide is used to bleach wood pulp for the high quality and environment friendly white paper products.

It is used as a non-selective, contact herbicide that penetrates the cuticle causing cell death by altering the metabolic processes.

Manufacturing Process

It is produced by two raw materials salt, water and use of large amounts of electrical energy.
