together01. Some present statistics

• The gap between rich and poor is increasing; in 2006:

2.8 billion people lived in poverty (less 2$/day) and 1.1 billion people in extreme poverty (less 1$/day).

• Global economy and consumer industry has grown sevenfold between 1950-2005 whereas the difference in G.D.P. between the 20 richest and 20 poorest countries more than doubled.

• In 25 countries, more people go to bed hungry today than a decade ago. In industrialized countries, obesity affects

more than 300 million people.

• 1.1 billion people has no access to “safe drinking water” and 2.4 billion people live without basic sanitation.

• Deforestation took place at a rate of 0.8 – 2.0% in past 25 years

• The world fish production will be extinguished by 2048 if we maintain present fishing levels.

Our world of today is facing serious challenges which we can read, see and observe on a daily basis. Statistics show us alarming factual information of certain global developments:

02. Civil and social responsibility

• There is a growing civil concern for the world’s developments with a common sense that we shouldn’t leave to politicians or to other institutions what we can do ourselves.

• Many people would like to help, contribute or be involved in a social cause as long as it is:

-> transparent (honest),

-> effective (lasting effect)

-> rewarding

It is our aim to bring people and resources around the globe together to make a real difference, not only through dialogue but by

acting together.

03. How?

By creating a new and transparent internet platform for humanitarian initiatives (change agents), where visitors themselves

can decide what causes to support or participate in, with expertise, time, money or otherwise, resulting in a direct effectiveness

and increased personal commitment. This web-portal is therefore based on three major pillars of participation:

1. Free Exposure of Humanitarian Initiatives (change agents) ..

People can list their new or existing sustainable projects free of charge to give international exposure to their

humanitarian initiatives and organisations.

2. Multiple Participation ..

The possibility for everyone interested to view, interact and participate in these projects through skills, services, time

and/or financial contribution.

3. Direct Interaction ..

All communication and interaction between projects and participants is direct, there is no middle figure, thus ensuring

a 100% transparent and open system with direct channeling of information, skills, time and funds.

05. Transparent, effective, easy and rewarding

All humanitarian initiatives and organisations will be asked complete transparency in showing human involvement (who does what in a visual way), goals, financial overview and requirements needed to complete objective.

Everyone can participate, contribute and communicate in a direct way with the organisations, thus allowing direct involvement, civil control and human empowerment.

The platform will be easy accessible and without barriers to join and participate, from giving time with skills/abilities, encouragement, to making network connections or sending a financial contribution.

There is nothing more rewarding on a human level than being part of a solidarity community and knowing that YOU can make a positive difference in the life of somebody else.
