Imagine, You've been selected by your tribe to face one of their biggest fears. You are a guy of confidence .

And you've got introduced to it :huge hairy beast with 5 arms, 3 heads and dozen of eyes .. Scary huh

And from behind of hill, they yell ... "Tame it ... Tame it ... Tame it" What? Me ? Him ? Here? Now? This is exactly what happen to you when you are hired in a large company with multi subsidiaries and all of them are independent with their own boards and their own culture It is exactly what happen when you are hired to a company that works in number of different commodities and sells to absolutely different markets Everyone has different issues, different challenges and different economy And guess what? nobody likes you HQ spoiled boy.And still your HQ tribe yelling at you from distance " tame the beast … tame the beast"

OK guys I will I will I will but I need :I need some kind of authoritiesNo no no they are independent companiesI need some budgetNo no no we are HQ we don't have revenue I need people What people, overhead.... No freaking wayI NEED SOME HELPwell we issue official memos if you want !

And you will be lucky if that memo didn't make him smash you on the spot

" Who is this guy the HQ is sending to solve our problems?We will not accept more responsibilities He wants something? He should do it himself ." beast heads saying to each other

Every head has his own headache, every arm is scratching different itch and every eye is looking to different direction. Although the heads are connected to the same body , they are some how competitive.

And your HQ tribe yelling from behind the hill: "TAME IT" .

So, what shall we do? Note this down : Here are the 3 rules and the only 3 rules you need :

1) show sympathy genuinely , help hands scratching iechs : hands are middle management. They are extremely important to you . they are surrounded by so much KPIs and very little help.

2) help eyes to focus on one single point . one simple goal with a systematic roadmap . easy to follow and easy to measure .

3) comb the beast hair. Show your HQ tribe how cute the beast is. Promote their little efforts

and walk hand on hand with beast to your HQ tribe. Don't lead him and don't push him just walk with him.

and it turns that the beast is not a beast. they are people from our tribe but with heavy burdens of accountabilities and lack of guidance.

the tribe got together for the victory dance . a victory on our lack of communication and lack of mutual understanding.
