Dear

it is my pleasure to invite you to Breakfast News. it’s our second event so far this year and at one of our favourite venues: Quaglinos.

Taking place on Thursday 25th April, our theme is ‘STem and us’ and we will cover a range of specially commissioned content that uncovers the real value that science, technology, engineering & mathematics (STem) graduates bring to organisations, as well as how they influence our lives more broadly.

our special guest is Simon Singh, best selling author, BafTa award-winning documentary maker and former producer of BBc’s Tomorrow’s World. Simon is an acclaimed speaker on science, cosmology and mathematics and he will share some insights on how scientific or mathematical thinking can change the world.

Breakfast News favourite Marcus Body, head of Research at Work Group, will take us through some of the most common questions asked by employers of STem graduates and will give us his usual well-informed view on the solutions to some of the specific problems in this area.

agR chief executive Carl Gilleard will support all that is being said with a unique insight into employers’ views of current challenges in recruiting technical students based on a member survey and economist Dennis Turner will tell us just how important rebuilding and investing in all aspects of uk engineering and manufacturing is for the future.

finally, i am very pleased to be introducing Jane MacKenzie from the Science and Technology facilities council to share with us her experience of the funded technology training available at ceRn for uk computing, engineering and physics graduates and how uk employers can get involved.

This is the busiest agenda we’ve had for a while and places are limited, so please arrive promptly to enjoy a full english breakfast at 8am and i hope, take part in this conversation.
