Bad Poster

Page 3: Serene&Ellen
Page 4: Serene&Ellen

•Intended Mood: Horror (failed attempt) - mainly due to usage of colors - model’s expressions

•Visual Harmony: Weak hierarchical arrangement- no depth

•Figure and Ground: - inappropriate division of space- figure is the about the same size as ground

•Proximity:- top and bottom design is placed side by side, but they don’t seem to be belong to the same poster.

•Similarity:- choice of fonts

•Pictures and words are stretched to the brim- leads eyes off the edge

•Re-use of Logos: Fred Perry’s leaves

Good Poster

Page 6: Serene&Ellen

• Colors: Monotone, Black and White Good contrast

• Mood: Dread, death, darkness, despair

• Visual Harmony: Balance through positive and negative space- Effect is achieved through F&G ambiguity

->Similarity in items that make up face and the leaves around it.

->No clutter of information->Face becomes focal point

• Proximity: Face is purposely situated far from elements in the background. Separated with white space.

• Continuity: Black trunk

• Closure: Key Point in this poster. - Incomplete/ambiguity lets viewer fill in

the information- Brings out the key mood of ambiguity

and despair
