SCRUMScrum is a methodology used to assemble and manage teams in a business or organization.
The job is done faster, so the products have a greater and higher value for the the customer.
SCRUMHow did this start?
SCRUMIt all began in the 90’s as a development
process to help software developers.
SCRUMSince then, Scrum has expanded beyond the technological industry and is being implemented in many other business.
SCRUMWhat does it do?
SCRUMIt sets principles and values for the leader to follow, when recruiting teams
and creating processes for product development.
SCRUMHow does it do this?
SCRUMBy allowing the teams to get
self-organized.
1
SCRUMBy establishing a set of work rules for the
teams.
2
SCRUMBy allowing the teams to work while the
managers step back.
3
SCRUMWhat makes Scrum so special?
SCRUMWhen the team members are talented, they do more in less time, without a boss telling them what to do. Instead, they follow the work
principles.
SCRUMIt is based on3 principles.
SCRUMTransparency
1
SCRUMTransparency
1“All development processes have to be transparent to all
the team.”
SCRUMTransparency
1All the organization must clearly know the Scrum method
and its structure, to focus more on the process than on the result.
SCRUMInspection
2
SCRUMInspection
2The work gets done in “Sprints” (time periods) which last a
maximum of one month.
SCRUMInspection
2Inspections must be frequent enough to verify that the
product is being developed in the direction to the Sprint ´s goal.
SCRUMAdaptation
3
SCRUMAdaptation
3Continuous and quick adjustments are to be made to the
process, in light of possible deviations from the Sprint goal, which result from the inspections. Thus, the customer
gets a better product.
SCRUMThe team
SCRUMIt must be self-organized and multifunctional. Once the goals are
established, the team works on its own.
SCRUMThe team members take responsibility on
their own, instead of waiting for the leader to assign the tasks
SCRUMThey manage the tasks ―assignment, re-
assignment, estimate, delivery and remake―as a team.
SCRUMThey constantly improve their skills and
make recommendations of innovative ideas and improvements.
SCRUMThe members:
SCRUMThe Product Owner
SCRUMThey manage the “Product Backlog” or official functionality list of the product.
SCRUMThe Development Team
SCRUMThey get the job done. The team is made up of people that have the right skills
required to achieve the goal.
SCRUMThe SCRUM Master
SCRUMHas much participation in development, since he
supports the team and the product owner.
SCRUMSCRUM Master Functions
SCRUMFacilitates event organization and cooperates
in events.
SCRUMProvides coaching.
SCRUMDoes continuous revisions.
SCRUMSupports getting over obstacles.
