Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team in the development of an effective and safe working environment through constant improvement of Safety and Health Management Systems, training and behaviours to ensure compliance with Peabody Energy & legislative requirements;

Maintain the site SHMS document management system and intranet; Observe incident trends, collecting, analysing and interpreting results. Provide advice on

sustainable and practical corrective measures Liaise closely with Government regulators and where required, actively participate in Peabody

THIESS – WILPINJONG PRODJECT

Responsibilities:

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, provide advice to the General Manager -Peabody and Project General Manager – Thiess and other team members in relation to legislative and other safety requirements;

Manage safety and training yearly budget; Implementation of site’s Safety & Health Management System from Civil to mining operation; Ensure compliance in safety and training in relation to competencies, standards as well as

requirements of all relevant legislation together with relevant Thiess and Peabody standards; Implement the site’s safety strategies to achieve accreditation for AS4801 – OHS

Management Systems and AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008; Manage Wilpinjong Workers Compensation process; Implement document control system; Incident/Accident report and analysis system

(ICAM);Facilitate high-level risk assessments; and recommend and implement improvement ideas for safety and training on the Wilpinjong Mine Site;

Deliver Toolbox talks on a regular basis Support the Training Coordinator, Quality Coordinator and Administrative role to achieve the

above objectives for site personnel

Achievements:

Successfully developed the Safety Management System for Wilpinjong that has been adopted by Peabody Energy

Achieved the accreditation for AS4801 – OHS Management Systems and AS/NZS ISO 9001:2008;

Achieved full compliance on Industry and Investment audits of Coal Mine Health and Safety Act 2002 and Coal Mine Health and Safety Regulation 2006;

Achieved an outstanding result following an external Safety Culture Survey in 2010 of all Peabody mines. The survey found that “The impact of safety personnel is seen in a positive way with all groups reporting.” This finding was superior to all other Peabody mines surveyed at the time.

Achieved Certification with the International Disability Management Standards Council, a global group formed to reduce workplace injuries. Wilpinjong achieved an 81.4 percent score on the council’s Benchmark Injury Management Audit, ahead of the 2009-2010 global average of 66.6 percent. The mine scored highly in occupational ergonomics, health and wellness initiatives, and tracking injury and disability patterns.

ANGLO COAL - CAPCOAL

Manage and undertake coordination of the rehabilitation of employees; Inform senior management of mine sites incidents and provide safety support for incident

investigations; Promote safety across site to improve the link and communication between senior

management and mine site employees; Implement new safety system across the Capcoal site; Coordinate daily safety information updates and ensure employees have easy access to

information; Undertake safety inspections and facilitate risk assessment, across site Provide safety advice to various departments, as well as sites of Capcoal; Compile the weekly safety report and compile month end safety statistics Report to the Inspector of Mines concerning lost time injuries, high potential incidents and

medical treatment incident;

Achievements:

Created intensive management plans and programs that enabled the rehabilitation of 31 employees at Bundoora Mine

Carried out risk assessments and developed new procedures that were successful in improving safety awareness.

Successfully overcame Union and Worker resistance and implemented urine drug testing successfully trained all personal in new self-rescuers after introduction of the process. Feedback from participants was very positive in relation to the training.

ANGLO COAL – KRIEL MINE

Undertake required inspections as per appointment 2.17.1; Compile and distribute daily and weekly safety reports; Undertake all other related safety duties as required by the Chief Safety Officer and Mine

Manager; Undertake accident investigations and compile Safety Alerts; Conduct Safety inductions to new employees and contractors; Compile Month end safety statistics; Undertake related safety administration tasks, including filing, file management and data

production;

Achievements:

Was managing the safety department for 12 months without the Chief safety Officer; Anglo Critical Risk audit and had no major none conformance without any guidance from the

Chief safety Officer ; Managed full fatal inquest by providing evidence and participating from the mine perspective;.
