Research In Growth PotentialsLife insurance business - huge growth potential Religare offers life insurance services through its joint venture AEGON Religare Life Insurance Company Ltd (AEGON Religare) established in July 2008, where it holds a 44% stake. Other partners are Bennett Coleman & Company (30%) and AEGON N.V (26%).

The Indian life insurance industry is one of the fastest growing industries. Currently, at US$ 41 bn, India is the fifth largest life insurance market in the world, growing at ~32- 34% p.a. It is believe that the Indian life insurance industry is poised for healthy growth supported by strong demographics, rising affluence, high savings rate and increasing life expectancy.

Wealth management

The flourishing economy along with a boom in asset classes has resulted in a largenumber of people moving to the high net worth individual (HNI) category. Religare operates its wealth management business in partnership with Macquarie through Religare Macquarie Wealth Management Limited. Backed by the global expertise of Macquarie and its domestic linkages, Religare has swiftly ramped up its wealth management platform by offering personalized wealth management solutions to its HNI and corporate clients.

The wealth management business offers financial products (including mutual funds, structured products, insurance products and loan products) and financial services to HNIs. Religare has increased its sales team to ~186 relationship managers. Religare’s global asset management platform will further strengthen its position in the wealth management area and provide tailor-made solutions to its HNI clients.

The debenture issue has been rated CARE AA- by CARE and [Icra] AA-(Stable) by Icra. “AA” rating suggests that a company has high ability for servicing financial obligations and low credit risk, but the modifier suggests that within its category the company’s comparative standing is below average.

Religare Finvest, a wholly owned subsidiary of Religare Enterprises Ltd, is an NBFC that doesn’t accept deposits and has its main focus on financing small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and retail capital market financing.

Investment interested population does not know the company. Most of the banks due to good branding have the faith of the customers of their banking database. So they enjoy the liberty of huge database and customers find it more reliable to trade there rather than with a unknown broker.

The Retail Broking business facilitates trading and investment in equities and equity derivatives, currencies and commodities for its clients and is operated by RSL and its subsidiaries.

Religare among India’s largest retail broking and distribution networks: 1,494 points of presence with a customer base of over 950,000 clients as of March 31, 2015; market share of 1.44% in equity broking and 3.41% in commodities broking in FY15.

The strong branch network has helped Religare steadily increase its equity broking client base and expand its market share to 1.44%. The management has indicated further expansion, especially in Tier II and Tier III cities, through the franchisee model.

The Indian economy seems to be getting reenergized, having recorded more than 7% growth in FY2014-15. This has been on account of improved industrial and services sector performance. The overall positive sentiment was also reflected in the improved performance of the equity market that witnessed one of the highest returns in the recent past, as also in most other segments of the financial services industry. Over time, the monetary policy has also been easing with the containment of inflation, in order to provide a further impetus to growth. This is creating a lot of competition and it is creating little confusion in the minds of the customers about the services provided by the broker. Also many banking firms are entering into the market with huge investment. Competitors like ICICI, Kotak, HDFC etc. are posing a lot of threats to the company.

Technology - Online trading is totally based on the technology. Typically, the technology solution has to start from the Internet front-end. So technology is a kind of threat because unless until it is working properly it is good but, if business website does not functioning properly then it will be big threats.

Cost - Small popular stock brokers charged comparatively less than big market players; hence there is big threat of cost competition. (e.g. discount operator in India Zerodha, RKSV, SAS Online etc.)
