Although there were not many magazines based on the genre of Britpop, I have taken inspiration from those that were created. This then helped me use the codes and conventions of Britpop throughout my magazine.

I took into consideration the font of the masthead, and the colours…

I also took the idea of the Union Jack as it represents being British.

I felt that these aspects of the magazine were important as my previous research suggested that the colours red, white and blue connoted Britpop.

The font was bold and new which also fits in with the idea of British music being new and innovative.

The reason as to why I copied these aspects of a Britpop magazine is so that my piece would follow the conventions of the genre. Therefore making it clearer to my audience what type of music it was about. Thus making it reach out to my target audience.

I wouldn’t say I have really changed or challenged forms and conventions of a real media product, but I have adhered to certain elements of a Britpop magazine in order to make my chosen genre clear to my target audience.
