USE OF TEXT/TITLES

I use this to show who my characters are. I also use it to shows facts about rock challenge and the be your best foundation. Also Oak Academy’s journey through rock challenge. This is too make it more personal.

INTERVIEWS

I used indirect mode of address, I did this to create a more professional feel to the documentary.

I used experts on the subject to make it more believable.

I used this a narrative device to more the story along. This is a common convention of a documentary.

FOOTAGE: STOCK

I used a mix between my own, and stock footage. This is to show different views and past events that the audience might be familiar with. This has come to be expected by audiences as it is a very common practice in making a documentary.

VOICEOVER

By use a voice over at the beginning of my documentary I have created a voice of god. This helps the audience to follow along with the story and it helps them believe it better also.

MISE-EN-SCENE

During my interview with Geoff, I placed a rock challenge poster in the background. This is to promote the competition, but in a sly way.

I also got a lot of footage of the dancers in their rock challenge training gear. This has the be your best foundation logo on it. This use of iconography lets the audience link the dancers and the competition together.

RECEPTIVE THEORY

The audience draw on past experiences from seeing things within my documentary, such as school, or the dance, and will feel more connected to the piece.

SET UPS

A way that I challenged conventions was that my documentary had no set ups. I just when around picking up footage were I could, getting them to be as natural as possible. The reason i did this is because I wanted the documentary to be real.
