1 Executive Summary
1.1 Opportunity Statement
Developing and rebranding Nigeria’s image is a complex process. But despite all these intensive process, it will have positive and permanent effects in the long run for Nigeria. It will provide trust, productivity, enrichment, social improvement to the citizens of Nigeria while providing credibility, improvement in tourism, increase in export revenue, trading advantages to the country itself.
For this reason 1ST OCTOBER PUBLICATION LIMITED ,a company incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act 1990 and its Assigns African Times Network London 324/326 Regent street, Albany House office 404 WIB 3HH. AND MINISTRY OF FORIGN AFFAIRS NIGERIA, an organ/agency of the Federal Government of Nigeria and its assigns (Nigerian High Commissions London) have entered a public-private partnership in publication of a world class commemorative reference book (hereinafter referred as the book) as one of the way to develop Nigeria Image and also as a strategy for national brand building to attract foreign investment.
The publication of this book will celebrate and commemorate Nigeria’s 50 th Independence Anniversary on the 1st of October 2010.
The Project book will reengineer the Nigerian story. The Project "book" will create a positive national image for Nigeria. The Project "book" will re-brand the image of Nigeria and provide a platform for investment
opportunities that exist in Nigeria. The Project "book" will celebrate Nigeria There is a need to re-launch our misconceived image by the United Kingdom and the rest of the
world. A need to correct the negative perception of Nigeria by the outside world The book will bring an understanding to the whole world of our rule of law and a country where they
can stake their money. The outside world must be aware of the business opportunities available in Nigeria. The book will tell the true/real Nigeria story. The book will reflect on the true position on all efforts in Nation building in the last 50 year within
Nigeria.
The launch/Presentation will take place in London United Kingdom come September /October 2010 to reengineer our story and national image and re-launch our misconceived image through their platforms after 50 years of independence from them
1.2 Desired State The Publication of a world class commemorative reference book with initial production of 50,000 copies The creation of a website with linkages This linkage shall include all foreign missions, all Nigerian
Diaspora organization using the Nigeria UK diasporas organization as platforms for publicity for the publication.
Content of the publication will include materials that will celebrate and re-brand the image of Nigeria while providing a platform for investment opportunities that exist in Nigeria. The content will include:

1.3 High Level Benefit Analysis
The publication of a world class commemorative reference book of this caliber will provide the following benefits to Nigeria:
The Publication will provide effective liaison with foreign information attaches in Nigeria and representatives of News Agencies in order to give objective information on developmental programmers of the country
The reference Publication will contain objective information on developmental programmes in Nigeria gotten from effective liaison with foreign information attaches in Nigeria, representatives of News Agencies, government bodies and institution.
The publication will provide a colourful international reference book on Nigerian, providing information and update on current reforms and development.

2 Project Overview
2.1 Project Description
The Publication of a world class reference book by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and 1st October who have the experience and capacity based on their previous publications namely; 1st October Vol. 1, Vol. 2 and Vol. 3 and the 1st October Commemorative Publication for the Nigeria/South Africa Bi-national 10 th
year Anniversary. The content of the publication will include archival materials, historical symbols and positive nationalistic
perspectives from institutions, corporate bodies, governments and national heroes. Prior to launch of event there will be public enlightenment in the major international TV networks and will
be broadcasted also on presentation to major TV networks for purposes of enlightenment and advertisement to boost sales
The launch of the publication will be The Nigeria High Commission in London United Kingdom. This will be the ideal location being that Britain colonized Nigeria. The aim to reengineer our story and national image and re-launch our misconceived image through their platforms in London after 50 years of independence from them.
The Quality Criteria agreed for the publication give authority to 1st October to employ the services of their consultants and technical partners without recourse to the MFA.
African Times Network London (ATN) a Holden to 1st October located in London United Kingdom has been chosen by 1st publication Limited to deliver the project on its behalf in London and as it may deem fit as the project progresses. African Times Network is a communication enterprise providing services like media services, project management & consultation services and event management & consultation services.

INSIGHT COMMUNICATION LIMITED: Nigeria s leading integrated marketing communication agency. Insight strong planning quality comes from working closely with the client to build clients brand programmes. They do this through research, strategy, efficient project management which results in successful execution of their projects.
The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Nigeria will cause letters of endorsements to be issued to facilitate marketing of the publication and sourcing of information needed to ensure highly informative production.
The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs will provide 1st October Publication a marketing support structure for the sale, distribution and circulation of the publication.
1st October Publication will undertake the marketing and sale of the publication to the general public and targeted institutions/participants.
The Approach for Delivering Nigeria At 50
The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs and 1st October Publication have after careful Research & Critical thinking decided to approach the Project in the following ways
Use Staff of 1st October Publication (African Times Network a subsidiary) to find the best way to move the project forward, monitor, recommend, document, carry out project management for the project, business development and advise on the Nigeria at 50 Project.
1st October publication has invited different partners, consultants & suppliers to come forward and has carefully selected its partners for the Nigeria at 50 projects.
1st October Publication have chosen and will Work with its preferred supplier, technical staff and consultants:
Sol 90 is contracted to create the editorial, Marketing and business Development of and for the publication. Will create all marketing collateral to move the project forward.
Insight Communication and Times Research and development limited have been chosen for Project Management.
Insight communication limited is chosen as Project Director. They will plan the entire task for the delivery of the project. Insight Communication Ltd will provide for the overall execution of the project worldwide. They will work closely with Times Research & development, Sol 90 & the African Times Network to deliver the project.
Times Research and development limited is responsible for the coordination of the project in terms of Planning, documentation working with African Times Network.
African Times Network a beholden of 1st October Publication will work with all partners to deliver the project in the following ways: Project Management, Event Management, and Business Development working on behalf of IST October publication to ensure the project is delivered by all partners.
African Times Network will document all project documents on behalf of 1st October Publication and will be responsible for monitoring timescales and project plans to make sure they are carried out within time frames.

The Ministry Of Foreign Affairs Nigeria shall through its goodwill and contacts secure for the publication high profile interviews, endorsements for the book as support for sales and sponsorships.
The ministry of foreign Affairs Nigeria shall ensure that prior to the formal presentation of the publication as a way to boost publicity, enlightenment and promotion of the publication that access through website linkages auxiliary or incidental web medium should be employed. This linkage shall include but not limited to access to all the foreign missions, all Nigerian Diaspora organization using the Nigeria UK diasporas organization as platforms for publicity for the publication.

The right side features the standard ISBN (International Standard Book Number) barcode, which is required by traditional book sellers such as Barnes & Nobles, Borders, and Amazon. We will first obtain ISBN number from ISBN.org. .
Please review the example pictures below
1. The bottom left features the standard UPC code. It is optional if we plan to only sell through traditional book stores such as Borders, Barnes & Noble, or Amazon. If we plan to also sell book through other retail outlets then we recommend adding this UPC code, as it is the standard barcode scanned by regular retailers.
2. The right side features the standard ISBN (International Standard Book Number) barcode, which is required by traditional book sellers such as Barnes & Nobles, Borders, and Amazon. We will first obtain our ISBN number from ISBN.org. The service of converting the ISBN number to a barcode graphic that you see in the image is available for additional charges.
3. The small 5-digit barcode next to the ISBN represents your suggested retail price. The first digit of this pricing barcode indicates the currency. The remaining 4 digits indicate the price xx.yy of the Nigeria at 50 book.

1. The development of Nigeria at 50 website should be a matter of importance! This is the platform that Nig at 50 is operating from. The reason being that it will enhance our negotiating strategizing positions for Nigeria at 50 so within the website for Nigeria at 50 there should be a link to Nigeria at 50 website.

The Nigeria at 50 website, for strategy & for the beginning of the brand we want to represent on the website, should have information like “Nigeria at 50 is partnering with sol90 to launch a Special Commemorative book for Nigeria @50" on behalf of MFA to be launched in London using NHC in London as launch Pad". This should be like head line news etc. or see statements like "creativity is making the complicated awesomely simple".
Special Promotions can be put on Nigeria at 50 and then filtered to Nigeria@ 50 website so as prevent the clutter of the Nigeria@50 website. e.g. "Do you have originality of thought, expression, and imagination? We will allow you in this section... take shots that capture you and Nigeria through your eyes. The best will be presented on the official website for Nigeria at 50.
We can ask for additional information like:YOUR NAME:STATE OF ORIGIN:COUNTRY OF RESIDENCE:PROFESSION:Positive words that reflect Nigeria.(Maybe 2)
Then we create Official Page to Communicate with our potential customers and fans by creating and maintaining an official Facebook Page or Community page to Generate support for Nigeria at 50. If it becomes very popular (attracting thousands of fans) it will be adopted and maintained by the Facebook community.

From the above list we take for an example “music”.....and say in the past 50 years how many music eras have we had and who are the people that have championed the era.........say the post-independence era covering 1960 to 1970......then we take 1970 to 1980..........then 1980 to 1990.........then 1990 to 2000 .........then 2000 to 2005...then 2005 to 2010. Photograph these people-the ones alive of course. We can apply this to every category and with this we can identify which photographs we need to source.

I have had some meetings with DHL and have come this conclusion, there is a discount system in place that could minimize the cost of distribution For example if the book price spend level would be in the region of 100 per week over £4000 which would give us a 71% discount on European Express Saver services and 69% off Worldwide shipments outside of the EU see chart for discount pricing and level of carriage.
How and They Work
Ok, it’s Monday and we have a 2kg parcel to go to Turkey (Zone 5) standard book price on Worldwide Express Saver Service is £66.30 + fuel surcharge makes it £74.92. This is next day guaranteed.
So below we fall into the £51-150 revenue level. If we look where the two meet you see in red you get 35% Discount which also comes off of the fuel surcharge.
So our discounted price will be £48.70
However we can take advantage of something called - The 1 week rolling average discount structure.
Its Tuesday and we have an emergency order for the USA, 10 parcels at 6kg for New York (Zone 6) that need to be there tomorrow by 10.30am £285.65 + fuel = £322.79 (60kg). The discount structure is based on transport spend only. Fuel Surcharge gets discounted but does not count towards our weekly spend, so this shipment falls into the 151-300 but because we sent the one to Turkey yesterday this gets added for our weekly spend so it is now £66.30 + £285.65 = £351.95, plus the Fuel Surcharge (13% for Express/Worldwide Services) is £397.71. We are now in the £301-£500 spending level so you hit the 51% discount level.
So when billed the Turkey shipment will be £36.72, and the NY shipment will be £194.88.
When we add the whole weeks transport costs together we will then know which revenue band we fall into for that week’s shipping. Please follow your finger down the revenue band for the week to see what discount you will get from your chosen service.
