To attract and address my audience I used:

• Simple, easy to read language• Interesting photographs- different mise en scene• Young models- same demographic as the target audience• Stories that relate to the target audience- about bands they will listen to• Interesting layouts on each page

I used different techniques on each page that helped to attract and address my targeted audience. In the following slides I have detailed the techniques I have used to attract and address my audience in more detail.

Masthead

• Simple

• Youthful font and colour

• Relates to music genre

• Suitable for both genders

Image

• Model fits the audience demographic (aged 17- 25 student)- age, clothes and lifestyle

• Colourful

• May appeal more to the female market

Mise en Scene

• Clothes- typical of the audience member

• Setting- Underground connotes the feeling of exclusivity

Coverlines

• Direct mode of address- “Are you in the know?”

• Bold font and colour

Straplines

• Details the coverline to interest the audience

• Different colour to the coverline- separates the two techniques so it is clear to the audience

Main Sell

• Popular band of the audience I have targeted

• Change in font colour makes it more interesting

Photographs

• Models used with the same demographic as the target audience

• Audience can relate to the models

Layout

• Simple and easy to navigate

Subtitles

• Separates the magazine contents- makes it easier for the audience to navigate through the magazine

• Graphics- makes the page more visually stimulating

• “Features”/ “Regulars”- separates the article s so the audience can find articles quicker

“Contents”

• Youthful font and colour

Connotes the feeling of exclusivity

“Features”- new articles each issue to interest the reader

• Page made more visually interesting

• “Big Eyes Special”- connotes exclusivity of the magazine and the contents
