WHAT IS PLANNING….?

• Planning Is the process of thinking about and organizing the activities required to achieve a desired goal. Planning involves the creation and maintenance of a plan. As such, planning is a fundamental property of intelligent behavior

• Planning is one of the executive functions of the brain, encompassing the neurological processes

HOW TO ACCOMPLISH A GOAL

• Everyone has dreams. Whether they are big or small, they have vast importance in our lives. However, the procrastinator in all of us doesn't have to win. The Little Engine That Could was on to something with the whole "I think I can" mentality. With just a little bit of planning, accomplishing a goal is a simple task

CHARACTERISTICS OF PLANNING

• Planning is goal-oriented- Planning is made to achieve desired objective of business.

• Planning is Flexible- Planning is done for future.

• Planning is an intellectual process- Planning is a mental exercise involving creative thinking,sound,judgement and imagination

• Planning involves choice & decision making- Thus, decision making is an integral part of planning.

• Planning is the primary function of management- Therefore planning is the basic or fundamental function of management.

STEPS• Setting Goals- Start working toward your goals today Stay focused

and believe in yourself even if others do not believe in you

• Getting Started- Be positive Always believe that you will achieve your goal. As soon as you stop believing, you have already failed

• Moving Forward- Never forget about the problems that might come up on the way, and prepare for them. Positive thinking is important, but preparedness is better than being shocked or devastated when obstacles appear.

• Tips- "A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."

• Warnings- Things don't always work out as you had planned. Stick to your goals, but be flexible. Often, something will work itself out in a different way than you expected, but that doesn't necessarily make it bad. Keep an open mind.

TYPES OF PLANS

• STANDING PLANS: Are used over and over again because they focus on organizational situations that occur repeatedly

• SINGLE USE PLANS- Are used only once, or at most, couple of times, because they focus on unique or rare situations within the organization.

ACCORDING TO TIME DIMENSION

• Short Term: Up to One year

• Medium Term: Up to 1 Yr. But Less Then 5 Yr.

• Long Term: More Then 5 Yr.
