Programme History
The forerunner of the MScISM was the Higher Diploma in Systems Analysis (HDSA) which ran from 1979 to 2009
Intended as an applied skills programme for employees requiring exposure to business computing
Major revisions: 1990 (full-time and part-time) 1996 (full-time only / Internet and multimedia taught) 2000 (two streams – BSD/IMS) 2003 (full-time and part-time, one stream)

Registration New incoming students (Starting September 2011)
who have accepted and paid their deposits will be able to register online from 23rd August 2011. Your student ID number will be your PAC number and your password will be text'd or emailed to you in early August to facilitate registration on 23rd August 2011.
All fee queries must be directed to the Fees Office feesnuigalway.ie. Make sure you load a passport sized photo on the PAC website as this will be used for your NUI Galway student ID card.

Plagiarism rules
Marks and Standards
To be eligible for the award of the M.Sc. in Information Systems Management, candidates must successfully complete modules to a total of 90 ECTS.
In the case of the full-time programme, a candidate who has passed all of the modules other than the Applied Project within a period of two years from commencement of the programme shall be eligible for the award of a Postgraduate Diploma in Information Systems Management.
Marks and Standards
A minimum mark of 35% is required in the written examination in a module before marks for year’s work/continuous assessment may be included in the determination of the overall mark for that module, unless the mark for year’s work falls below the mark attained in the written examination.
Compensation
Where a student attains a grade in one or more modules that is below the pass mark but is at least 35%, the student may be permitted to compensate in those module(s) (i.e. “compensatable”), up to a maximum of 10 ECTS. No compensation is allowed for the Project.
Honours bands
First Class Honours - about 70%
Honours Grade I - about 60%
Honours Grade II - about 50%
Pass – 40%
