eBusiness: The Future Of Mobile Is User Context For eBusiness & Channel Strategy Professionals
9
eBusiness And Channel Strategy Professionals Are Pushing User Context
By integrating location into the research and purchase processes, eBusiness professionals are making sophisticated use of context. In the travel industry, !rms already use time, location, and user behavior to deliver more tailored experiences. For example, Continental Airlines prioritizes di"erent services based on the relative time to an individual’s #ight departure. In retail, companies are pushing alerts and o"ers based on location through geo-fencing technologies. Disney gives guests access to real-time information such as the location of Mickey in the park or wait times for popular rides. In aggregate, though, few leverage location beyond guiding consumers to their brick-and-mortar stores or banks. $e ability to help customers navigate indoors stands as a challenge.9
Their Organizations, However, Lack The Tools And Expertise To Support Mobile E!orts
eBusiness professionals have a breadth of functional expertise in their organizations to support their sales and services initiatives. Too few of these professionals, however, have the expertise and tools they need to support the incorporation of context into more targeted marketing or the delivery of mobile services designed to support customers and increase conversions. Marketers have begun to use location to tune their targeting e"orts on mobile devices, but most of their e"orts are more of the “test and learn” variety.10 User experience teams lack the tools and processes to design and re!ne experiences on new devices with limited screen real estate and novel interaction capabilities.11 Finally, the customer analytics required to measure and understand sophisticated mobile usage patterns over time and to guide the improvement of those experiences fall short by relying too much on web paradigms.12
Figure 5 Leveraging Context Is Simply Too Low Of A Priority Today

“Why aren’t you leveraging more user context in the design or delivery of your mobile services?”
Too low of a priority
Technical challenges/lack expertise
Organizational ownership
Financial resources/cost
Can’t justify ROI
Privacy concerns

MOBILE FIRST | WAS HEISST DAS EIGENTLICH?
" "MOBILE FIRST” ist gemeinsame Aufgabe von Marketing & Technik
" Inhalte & Service und Werbung werden nicht mehr für Kanäle oder Geräte bereitgestellt, sondern für den Kontext des Kunden
" Beispiel Commerce: Tablet-Nutzer haben 2011 pro Einkauf 54 Prozent mehr ausgegeben als Smartphone- und 21 Prozent mehr als PC- Nutzer. (Quelle: Adobe)

MOBILE FIRST | WAS HEISST DAS EIGENTLICH?
" Mobile ist kein Kanal sondern der erste Teil der digitalen Wahrnehmung Ihrer Marke und Produkte!
" Mobile Applikationen werden primäre Zugang der Online-Welt des Kunden
