Her Excellency Ambassador Maria Cristina Barrios Almazor Born on May 26, 1946 in San Sebastian, Spain. In August 2010 she arrives in Miami, as Consul General of Spain in Florida, Georgia and South Carolina. This is a prestigious appointment in the Spanish Foreign Service, because of the strong historic, cultural and economic ties between Spain and Florida. In February 2010 she was appointed as Ambassador-at-Large for the Reconstruction of Haiti. On March 16th of 2007 she was appointed as Ambassador-at-Large for Climate Change. On December 27 th of 2002 she was appointed as the Ambassador of Spain in Mexico. In May 1998 she was posted as the Ambassador of Spain to the Kingdom of Sweden. Later, she was appointed as the Ambassador of Spain in Latvia. She was appointed in 1991 Ambassador General Director for Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Madrid. Deputy Consul in Düsseldorf on April 20 th , 1982. Admitted into the Diplomatic Career in 1979. She has a Master’s Degree in Philosophy, Literature and Arts and a Diploma on International Relations from the Diplomatic School of Spain.
