track Self-assessment Identify strengths and weaknesses

Set short term goals and verify that these are met Set longer term goals and a plan to reach these

Reflection Demonstrate attainment of the “tools” by providing

evidence and reflecting on how this evidence meets their goals

Mechanism to Attain Six Tools

The Notre Dame Electronic Portfolio (NDeP)

Using electronic technology to collect, select, build and publish a student’s best workStudents create an e-portfolio that includes: A career plan using pre-input choices with some

customization and reflection Evidence and reflection on their attainment of the

“tools” using personal experiences both from coursework and outside the classroom

Organized, customized and publishable form to show academic advisers, future employers, friends and family

NDeP Format

The Google Applications Suite is being utilized as the format for NDeP Gmail – Already implemented for student email Gdocs – Large storage capacity, can store all documents in

one place online Includes document, presentation, spreadsheet, and form capabilities

for customizable content

Gsites – Can publish most documents to web form and even build own website

Page 8: Kuczenski N De P

NDeP currently offers an informational Gsite to introduce student’s to the e-portfolio concept

Includes: Registration survey “How To” pages Informational pages Resources (templates) Research links News/Announcements

NDeP https://sites.google.com/a/nd.edu/nd/

Registration Survey Creates talking points

between student and adviser Career interests Curricula options Course selection

Assessment of the “Six Tools” How important they view

each tool to be towards their career

What is their perception of their skills

What evidence they have to prove their skills

Reflection Goals Short term and long term
