Public funding calls Knowledge Transfer PartnershipsKey feature: A scheme to help businesses innovate and grow by linking them with a university and a graduate to work on a specific project. Each KTP is a three-way partnership between a business, an academic institution and a graduate. The academic institution employs the recently-qualified graduate who works at the company. The graduate, known as the ‘associate', brings new skills and knowledge to the business.

Creative England Production FundThe Creative England Production Fund is targeted at feature films with budgets of up to £2 million from up-and-coming talent or from established directors looking to experiment with innovative approaches. The fund is particularly interested in projects from regionally-based filmmakers or those which have a strong regional voice.

The fund is looking to support around three to five features per annum over the next four years, with production awards of up to £200,000 per project.

Public funding calls Design-Based Consumer GoodsKey feature: This European Commission call for design-based consumer goods aims to shorten the time-to-market of innovative solutions, remove obstacles to wider application of creative solutions, create or enlarge markets for related products (or services) and finally improve the competitiveness of European SMEs in world markets.Scale: Up to EUR 4,000,000. The typical size of the EU contribution will be between EUR 800 000 and 1 million per selected project. The call expects to fund between 4-5 proposals.

Innovate UK's digital innovation programme IC tomorrow is running the Innovation in Urban Spaces Contest to find digital solutions that improve cities at human-scale for the people who work, live and play in them.

This event will see 12 quick-fire pitches from high potential entrepreneurs to a panel of industry experts, journalists and investors, as well as representatives from the contest challenge partners: Transport for London, Centro, Clear Channel and Atkins. This £140K contest will award up to £35K to each successful business, to fund the development of their solutions and trial their technology with the respective challenge partner. The IC tomorrow Future Retail Innovation Contest is offering five businesses up to £35,000 each (excluding VAT) to encourage innovation within the themes of food waste reduction, seamless shopping, enhancing in-store experiences, future street and covered markets and the future of fit.

They are looking for digital solutions to address the challenges of enhancing experiences, services, and processes across the retail landscape – such as optimising virtual fit, improving accessibility of digital services in-store, empowering customers to reduce food waste, enhancing the street market experience and streamlining the process of replenishing everyday items within the home.

The £175k ’Intelligent Data Insights Contest’ searching for innovative solutions that improve computational behaviour and derive new value from data insights is preparing for its grand finale.
