Tamnar in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh with an investment of

US$ 2.60 billion ( 13,410 crore)

The first unit of the 6 MTPA Steel Plant, a Wire

Rod Mill, has already been commissioned at

Patratu. The Wire Rod Mill is equipped with the

latest state-of-the-art technology to offer superior

quality wire rods. Work on the setting up of a Bar

Mill (1.0 MTPA capacity) is in advanced stages and

is expected to be operational by this year. The first

phase of 3.0 MTPA is expected to be commissioned

by 2012 and the remaining 3.0 MTPA will be

commissioned by 2014

A 12.5 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant and a 2,600 MW Captive Power Plant would be

commissioned in phases, involving a total investment of US$ 10 billion

( 50,000 crore). The first phase of the 6 MTPA Integrated Steel Plant is expected to be

commissioned by 2012

JSPL is setting up a coal gasification unit for its upcoming Steel Plant in Angul using the

'fixed bed dry bottom (FBDB) coal gasification' technology. The Synthesis Gas

produced at this plant will replace blast furnace (coke) used in the process of

steel manufacture

The Coal Gasification route to manufacture Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) is being used

for the first time in the world

Commercial production at the Pellet Plant commenced at Barbil in December 2009

Jindal Steel & Power Limited has powered many ground-breaking initiatives, the latest

being the Coal to Liquid Project in Odisha. The company has been allotted the Ramchandi

Promotional Coal Block in Angul district of Odisha having coal reserves of 1,500 MT.

JSPL is investing 50,000 crore in CTL (including mining and setting up of a Power Plant)

using the “Indirect Coal Liquefaction Technology” which will produce 80,000 barrels

per day (4.0 MMTPA).

first mega power project in the private sector at Tamnar in Raigarh district of

Chhattisgarh. JPL has a project portfolio of 15,660 MW in various stages of

Jindal Power Limited is operating a 1,000 MW (4x250 MW) Thermal Power Plant, the first

mega power project in the private sector at Tamnar in Raigarh district of Chhattisgarh.

A 6.9 km conveyer pipeline has been set up for coal transportation between the captive

coal mines and the plant

The company has constructed a 258 km, 400 KV Double Circuit transmission line from

the plant to the PGCIL sub-station at Raipur through which power can be sold

anywhere in India

An 18 m high dam over the Kurket River, 25 km away from the project site, takes care of

the plant's water requirements

JPL has also signed a MoU with the state government of Jharkhand to set up a 2,640 MW

Thermal Power Plant.

Jindal Power Limited has signed agreements to develop the 4,000 MW

Etalin, 500 MW Attunli and 1,600 MW Subansiri Middle Hydroelectric

projects in Arunachal Pradesh in a joint venture with the Hydro Power

Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh Limited (A Government of

Arunachal Pradesh Enterprise) on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer basis.

The 4,000 MW Etalin Hydroelectric Project will be the largest hydroelectric

project in India.

The company also plans to build a 454 MW Hydro Power Plant at

Chainpur Seti in Nepal.

As part of its diversification process, the group forayed into the oil and gas sector

in 2008, operating under Jindal Petroleum Limited. The company acquired five

Oil & Gas blocks in Georgia. Mr. Naveen Jindal led a delegation to the Central

Asian nation to sign contracts with the Government of Georgia for exploration

and production, indicating the importance of the petroleum business for

the group. The company has so far invested US$ 60 million ( 280 crore) and

would be investing over US$ 250 million during the next three years in Georgia.

In the future, Jindal Petroleum endeavours to optimize its portfolio in the

upstream sector by acquiring a few more producing fields or exploration blocks

nearing completion in Georgia. It is also considering venturing into refining and

marketing of various petroleum products as well as setting up of transportation

and storage facilities for crude oil and natural gas.

By Extending National Excellence To

International BordersAfter establishing itself as a major steel and power player in India, JSPL has gone on to create

a significant footprint across the world. Its global forays are as follows:

The Company has acquired the development rights for the 20 million tonne El Mutun Iron

Ore Reserves in Bolivia, and plans to invest US$ 2.1 billion in the next few years

It will set up an Integrated 1.7 MTPA Steel Plant, a 6 MTPA Sponge Iron Plant, a 10 MTPA Iron

Ore Pellet Plant and a 450 MW Power Plant in Bolivia. This will be the largest investment by

an Indian company in South America and also the largest investment by a foreign company

on a single project in the country

An affiliated company of JSPL, M/s. GTL International (GTLI) is currently engaged in the

development of the Palmar natural gas field in Bolivia, having an estimated recoverable

reserve of 24.7 BCF Gas and 0.87 MMBBL of condensate. M/s. GTLI has already completed

drilling of one well having 3,500 m depth and expects to commence the supply of

6 MMCFD of natural gas and 120 bbl of condensate shortly. The drilling of the second well

is in progress

GTLI owns the Palmar Block with the total investment till now being US$ 20 million

(for two wells plus setting up of a Production Plant)

JSPL first ventured into Africa when it acquired diamond exploration licenses in the

Democratic Republic of Congo in 2005. Later, in the year 2009, the company acquired a

majority stake in one of the alluvial mines in the country and since then has been

continuously producing diamonds of high quality

In South Africa, JSPL acquired a 76% stake in Kiepersol Colliery located near the Piet Retief

town in Mpumalanga province. The mine produces high quality anthracite and lean

bituminous coal

In Mozambique, JSPL has acquired exploration license for coal blocks and has done

extensive drilling to find substantial reserves

In Madagascar, JSPL is involved in limestone exploration projects. The company currently

boasts limestone reserves of over 1 billion tonnes

Bolivia (South America)

Africa

Through its 100% subsidiary Jindal Steel & Power (Mauritius) Ltd., Mauritius (JSPLM),

JSPL acquired Shadeed Iron & Steel Co. LLC (SISCO), a company incorporated under the laws

of the Sultanate of Oman. The project is under commissioning and is expected to commence

commercial operations in the first quarter of fiscal year 2011/12.

JSPL is committed towards protecting the environment through its various policies

and practices. It has institutionalized a fully-functional system to take ahead its 'green'

agenda. Some of the notable achievements are: every drop of water is recycled and

used for greening the campuses; coal rejects are utilized to generate power; and the

residue (fly ash) is used in the construction of roads, houses for employees and other

buildings. Even waste heat generated during the production of Sponge Iron is used to

generate electrical power.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) has been making meaningful contributions to

the society in different areas, for decades now. CSR activities at Jindal Steel & Power

Limited (JSPL) extend well beyond its business objectives, and the company's

concerns for the society are evident from the various initiatives it has taken in

different fields. JSPL's CSR objective further gets reiterated through the company's

vision “to be a globally admired organisation that enhances the quality of life

through sustainable industrial and business development.”

JSPL's CSR policy aims at bringing about a radical transformation in the quality of

life of people living in and around the operation areas of the company through

positive intervention in social upliftment programs. Its key areas of focus are Health

& Hygiene, Education, Vocational Training & Women Empowerment, Livelihood,

Livestock Care, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Youth & Sports and Infrastructure

Development.

JSPL believes in inclusive growth, taking along the communities around its plants,

endeavoring to improve the quality of life of the people in the areas it operates. Its

focus on social issues around its facilities in Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Odisha has

changed the living standards of the people, heralding a new dawn of industrial

progress in these areas. JSPL has adopted 40 villages in Raigarh and contributes

holistically to regional development.

JSPL recognizes education as one of the building blocks of any nation and considers it as a priority area

of its CSR activities. Realizing the importance and relevance of education, JSPL has taken a number of

initiatives like establishing a global university, specialized institutes and schools.

O.P. Jindal Community College of Technology and Skills (Industrial Training Centres) have been

established to develop skilled workforce by empowering competency based, skill oriented, technical

and vocational training. These institutes offer vocational training in trades like Electrician, Welding,

Plumbing, Fitting, Computer Operation, Cutting & Tailoring, Steno Hindi and Motor Mechanic.

A three months MES (Modular Employable Skills) Course is also run by theses institutes. These

institutes are located at Angul (Odisha), Patratu and Godda (Jharkhand).

Community Initiative at Tamnar, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh

To assess and identify the needs of the people, a socio-economic survey of the people in the

surrounding areas is conducted regularly by independent agencies through door to door surveys,

questionnaire sessions, focus group discussions and in-depth interactions. Various social initiatives are

introduced based on the findings of this survey. JSPL has won many accolades for its CSR initiatives.

Notable among them are:

The company runs four ITIs which have been adopted under the public private partnership scheme of

the Government of India. They are located at Sarangrah, Kharsia, Gharghoda in Chhattisgarh and Barbil

in Odisha. JSPL also runs English medium CBSE affiliated schools at various plant and project locations

like Raigarh, Tamnar, Nalwa, Angul and Patratu, wherein quality education is being imparted to over

9,000 students.

CSR Excellence Award by ASSOCHAM in July 2010 for promoting and propagating CSR initiatives

“Think Odisha leadership Award” for the third year consecutively for excellence in the field of CSR

in August 2010. The Company received the award for bringing about outstanding changes in the
