SOUTH AFRICA: Go-to-Market Strategy for PayD product

REQUIREMENT: Oltio (a joint venture between MTN & Standard Bank) developed the PayD product that now enables Debit Card holders in South Africa to purchase products online or via mobile (a first in South Africa). Oltio required the services of a Telecommunications specialist to assist in commercializing the product and expanding it into Sub-Saharan Africa.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic developed a high-level Go-to-Market strategy for Africa, and now assists Oltio in it’s implementation by providing project management services.

BENEFITS: By engaging Indian Atlantic, Oltio is now able to deliver commercially viable projects utilising the PayD platform, which is a key success factor for a Go-to-Market strategy. Delivering such projects effectively moves Oltio from being a technology Research & Development company to an Operating one.

SOUTH AFRICA: Enterprise Architecture (Phase 2)

Nashua'Mobile'Investment'Management'(2013'–'2014)'

REQUIREMENT: To Institutionalise and manage the Enterprise Architecture that Indian Atlantic designed in Phase 1.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic provided Interim Management for the role of Enterprise Architect educating all business and technical resources on EA, managing and conducting architecture review sessions and providing advice and tools for effective IT Portfolio Pipeline Management.

BENEFITS: Nashua Mobile was able to implement a consistent SDLC with effective governance on all system, integration and infrastructure design projects thereby reducing cost of ownership of technology and improving quality of software solutions

SOUTH AFRICA: “MVNO” Design & Implementation (Phase 2)

REQUIREMENT: During Phase 1 of the VitalityMobile programme CellC identified the need for a dedicated Programme Management role to facilitate technical integration projects between CellC and Discovery teams. This role is essential to the successful implementation of the VitalityMobile retail and online channels.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic provided an experienced Programme Manager to fulfill this role and to advise both CellC and Discovery Vitality on strategic, commercial, technical and operational aspects of the business.

BENEFITS: Both CellC and VitalityMobile were able to execute on the phase 2 project more effectively and were able to continuously improve the service offering, operational customer experience and success of the VitalityMobile benefit.

Discovery'VitalityMobile'Investment'Management'(2012)'

SOUTH AFRICA: “MVNO” Design & Implementation (Phase 1)

REQUIREMENT: Discovery Vitality and CellC entered into an agreement to launch a Closed User Group product to Vitality members and required the services of a Telecommunications specialist to assist with the design, implementation and operationalisation of the service.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic developed the Business Architecture and Operating Model, provided Programme Management services, provided Business Analysis support to Discovery and CellC commercial, operational and technical teams, advised Discovery on service and commercial requirements.

BENEFITS: Ensured the successful commercial and operational launch of the VitalityMobile Closed User Group service positioning Discovery Vitality as a value adding telecommunications service provider and creating an additional benefit to Discovery Vitality members.

NIGERIA: Business Process Definition & Optimisation

Airline'Services'Nigeria'Investment'Management'(2012)'

REQUIREMENT: To analyse and document ASL’s business processes, to optimise processes where necessary and to implement a practical online Business Process Management tool.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic visited ASL and conducted interviews and workshops to discover the current Business Processes, optimised and modeled the processes in our operating model management tool which was subsequently implemented at ASL.

BENEFITS: ASL are able to execute processes in a consistent way and ensure that all staff are effective in their various roles. In addition, the business processes have assisted ASL to improve customer service and are used to demonstrate to new customers that the service is of an international standard.

REQUIREMENT: Nashua Mobile embarked on a business transformation programme which required the redesign and re-engineering of their IT and IS architectures to support a new business strategy and operating model.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic consulted extensively with Nashua Mobile and developed a comprehensive Enterprise Architecture including a To-Be Business Model, To-Be IT and IS Architecture, Enterprise Architecture Governance Model and Transition Plan.

BENEFITS: The Enterprise Architecture enabled Nashua Mobile to effectively design a IT and IS architecture that is flexible, open, agile and supportive of their new operating model while ensuring that the new architecture is deployed in a managed and controlled fashion.

Zimbabwe: Operationalisation of WiMAX Broadband Operator

uMAX'Zimbabwe'Investment'Management'(2012)'

REQUIREMENT: The company had traditionally focused on the B2B broadband market but wanted to address the lucrative SME and consumer market. After having built a WiMAX network in Harare the company needed a specialist consulting partner to develop a consumer brand and operationalise the consumer broadband business.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic mobilised an expert team of consultants and assisted uMAX to launch the SME and consumer broadband business in 15 weeks. This include a new brand, operating model, distribution network, online payment capability and field installation and maintenance function. .

BENEFITS: uMAX and its shareholders were able to fast-track their return on investment from the WiMAX infrastructure already procured and installed and were able to disrupt the local market which had been suffering from unreliable and costly consumer broadband services.

NIGERIA: Mobile Money License Assessment

Central'Bank'of'Nigeria'Investment'Management'(2011)'

REQUIREMENT: In a bid to deregulate the Financial Services sector and to boost Financial Inclusion the CBN made available a total of 21 Mobile Money licenses. The applicants had to be evaluated on a broad variety of criteria to ensure viability and capability including technical solution and operational ability.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic consultants were part of multi-disciplinary team reviewing mobile money operations in Nigeria on regulatory compliance, areas of risk and potential improvements to regulatory framework.

BENEFITS: The CBN were able to demonstrate an auditable and objective process for Mobile Money license evaluations and continued to use the model developed to evaluate, measure and manage new and existing operators

NIGERIA: Operationalisation of Mobile Money Operator

Mkudi'Nigeria'Investment'Management'(2010)'

REQUIREMENT: Mkudi was one of many companies applying for a Mobile Money License to the Central Bank of Nigeria and needed the support of a Consultancy to manage this process and to assist with the operationalisation of the business during the pilot phase of the license application.

SOLUTION: Strategy development & documentation for mobile payments services licence submission to Central Bank of Nigeria. Additional consulting support services were to support the final bid presentation to the CBN, as well as business process design & development to enable launch readiness.

BENEFITS: Mkudi were able to produce all the required documentation for the license application and were able to demonstrate their ability to launch and operate a sustainable Mobile Money service in Nigeria. Mkudi were awarded a Mobile Money operating license in 2010 and were operational shortly thereafter

ETHIOPIA: Business Case for 3rd Party Payment Services

GCS'Ethiopia'Investment'Management'(2010)'

REQUIREMENT: A leading systems integration provider in Ethiopia were partnered with other local and international organisations to determine the feasibility and implications of launching a mobile-based Government to Person payment system.

SOLUTION: Indian Atlantic consultants assited with development of a business case for 3rd party payment services including mobile channels and POS & ATM networks. This included a review of potential mobile-based G2P payments (specifically for pension payments, and food credits) as well as P2G and B2B opportunities.

BENEFITS: The consortium, in association with multi-national aid organisations were able to determine the feasibility of a mobile-based G2P payment system in Ethiopia and, on the basis of this study, decided to proceed with the next phase of the programme.
