The bags come in 3 sizes:
• MIDIBAG

• HIPPOSKIP
Made of virgin polypropylene, which is 100%
recyclable, extremely strong and durable..
For insurance purposes they are stress tested to a 5*
limit and can only be used for a single use.
The Bags

How the process works
Open the bag
Purchase the bags from any good DIY store. The HIPPOBAG is an immediate waste container and can be stored until needed.
1Fill it up
Minimal disruption to your day, the bag avoids the need to double handle waste and keeps the premises tidy.
2 We collect

The benefits of the HIPPOBAG
• No downtime – immediate waste container– keep on site or in the back of van– no waiting for skips to arrive or be cleared
• Reduced spend – no paying for wasted space in a skip– no double handling– place on site so no need for a skip permit
• Customer Satisfaction– tidier than loose waste– prompt collection service
• Improved environmental performance – high recycling rates– reduced carbon footprint
Filling the bag
• Open and ‘cuff’ the HIPPOBAG
• Fill corners first with heavy items so the weight is distributed evenly.
• Fill the bag to the top but don’t overfill it.
• The MEGABAG is designed for bathroom rip-outs; put the bath in first and pack other waste in and around it
• Please don’t use ‘greedy boards’ and overload bag
Positioning the HIPPOBAG
• Access to the road must be at least 4m
• The HIPPOBAG cannot be positioned
more than 4m from the kerb
• Make sure the handles are left clear
• Do not obstruct the HIPPOBAG with
parked cars, cables or trees etc.
• Nothing over 6’ high must be in
between the road and the bag, or we
may not be able to lift it
Positioning the HIPPOBAG
DON’T:
• Leave the HIPPOBAG on the road,
pavement or verges without prior
permission from the local council
• Overfill the HIPPOBAG
• Include any hazardous waste
• Position the bag out of reach or up a
block paved driveway
The collection
• Bags are collected by a 26 ton DAF lorry
as standard, a 7.5 ton van is available for
restricted access roads (surcharge
applies)
• Drivers will assess the contents of each
bag before attempting to lift it
• The driver will work with you to ensure
successful collection but their decision is
final!

Plasterboard legislation
• Small amounts of plasterboard can be placed in a clear bag
on top of a HIPPOBAG so it can easily be separated and
recycled later.
• Large amounts of plasterboard can be put in a different
HIPPOBAG away from other waste streams.
The EA clearly states:
“This material must not be land-filled withbiodegradable waste. Producers of gypsum waste
should separate it for recovery and recycling”.
