BOC Swindon Hydrogen Station
First launched in 2011
Located at Honda UK Manufacturing Swindon
First commercial scale 350 / 700 bar HRS
Upgraded under Innovate UK project: SWISH2
3
BOC Swindon – SWISH2
First commercial scale on site production station delivering green hydrogen from onsite solar power @ ~60kg H2/day
Fleet of seven diesel / hydrogen hybrid vans deployed
Demonstration of FCEV fork lift truck & indoor H2 dispenser
Hydrogen fuel cell powered education centre

BOC Swindon HRS - Future
Following OLEV 2015 Grant - the station is now truly publicly accessible
Will be the first UK H2 station with Pay@Pump accepting bank or credit cards.
The station clearly demonstrates potential for on site production of green hydrogen
Station continues to fuel FLTs, H2 Education Centre, Ulemco vans and FCEV cars

BOC Aberdeen H2 Bus Project
The research leading to these results has received funding from the
European Union's Seventh Framework Programme (FP7/2007-2013) for the Fuel
Cells and Hydrogen Joint Technology Initiative under grant agreement n°303467
6
BOC Aberdeen H2 Bus Project
Fueling Europe’s largest fleet of H2 FCEV buses
UK’s largest onsite production station
On site production capacity of up to 360 kg H2/day
Utilising Linde IC-90 ionic compressors
Station designed, built and installed by BOC / Linde
Built in redundancy key to design
Station opened March 2015
Renewable electricity from Green Tarrif

BOC Aberdeen H2 Bus Project – Ionic Compressor
Ionic compression developed and patented by Linde
Ionic fluid is the lubricant and coolant
No contamination of hydrogen or degradation of purity
Ionic fluid unreactive
Five stage compression
High energy efficiency
High reliability
Low maintenance

BOC Aberdeen H2 Bus Project – Upgrade
Under H2ME and with additional support from Transport Scotland / Aberdeen City Council, the hydrogen station delivered as part of the Aberdeen Bus Project will be upgraded to give 350/700 bar car and van refuelling.
• Aberdeen will be the first city in the UK (outside of London) to have two refuelling stations.
• The station will be open to the public and have pay@pump hydrogen. • It will support Aberdeen’s every expanding fleet of H2 vehicles.
