Summit Report
The Great Rift Valley Transport Infrastructure Summit (GRV TI) organised by Entico Events opened on
the 4th and 5th of December, 2013 in Dar es-Salaam, Tanzania at the Kunduchi Beach Hotel. We
were pleased to see such diverse and exciting delegations from government ministers, permanent
secretaries, senior dignitaries and funding bodies from the Great Rift Valley countries.
The GRV TI provided the platform for discussions on the development of key areas and the ministers,
officials, international agencies and businesses from the region have found in the summit an excellent
occasion to discuss their aims, challenges and goals, to announce opportunities, projects & time
scales as well as to present a programme for planned contracts for 2014 and beyond.
Hon. Harrison MWAKYEMBE, the Tanzania Minister of Transport opened the summit by presenting
the unique position his country holds within the transport sector in the East Africa region.
The next two days saw presentations from the other officials from Burundi, Kenya, Mozambique, and
Uganda, from the many Tanzanian organisations represented, such as DCC - DAR Corridor Committee
Secretariat, TAA - Tanzania Airports Authority, TIC - Tanzania Investment Centre, TMA - Tanzania
Meteorological Agency, TRL - Tanzania Railway Limited and TTFA - Central Corridor Transit Transport
Facilitation Authority as well as from a wealth of development agencies, such as AfDB - African
Development Bank, DEG - Deutsche Investitions und Entwicklungsgesellschaft, Delegation of
European Union to the United Republic of Tanzania, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in
Tanzania and IFC - International Finance Corporation.
The gold sponsor of the event was IVECO while silver sponsorship was taken by BMW South Africa,
M.A. Kharafi & Sons and Motorola Solutions. Bronze sponsors were ATR, Msumbiji Group, SA,
Queiroz Galvao, Stanbic Bank and VDL Bus & Coach BV
During the afternoons of both the days, the participants gathered around thirty-eight roundtables for
a busy program of one-on-one meetings where business negotiations took place.
During the evenings of both the days, the participants gathered on the welcoming beachfront of the
Kunduchi Beach Hotel for informal meetings which many of the participants saw as excellent
opportunities for further networking.
A great number of the participants have expressed their satisfaction with both the format and the
content of the summit, highlighting the wealth of information delivered through the morning plenary
speeches and the direct, tangible benefits provided by the afternoon roundtable meetings.
We sincerely hope that, by bringing international expertise to East Africa, in some small way, the GRV
TI Summit will help governments in this region further develop the economies of their countries.
We would very much like to see you all again at future Entico Events.

The round table discussions format you have adopted is excellent. Gives everyone a chance to discuss
