Serbia on Balkan peninsula

*Republic of Serbia is situated in the south of Europe, in its eastern part, between approximately 42°and 46° NGW and 19° and 23° EGL. Shortest distance between the southernmost and northernmost point of country is 488 km, and between westernmost and easternmost point 449 km. Forty fifth parallel passes trough Serbia which means that our country lies in the middle of north hemisphere and it is almost equally away from North Pole and Equator.

* In comparison to European big regional wholes, Serbia associated with Balkan peninsula, Pannonian Basin, river Danube and middle eastern Europe . Two thirds of Serbia’s territory is below rivers Save i Danube, while one thid is above these rivers in Pannonian Basin. Through Pannonian Basin is connected to countries of middle and western Europe.

*The location of Serbia is very important when it comes to traffic.

* Sailing way down the river Danube connects Dunav povezuje 13 European countries, and Europe with the East and the Black Sea. All major terrestrial traffic routes from western and middle Europe to south-east of our continent and Asia go through Serbia. According to this, Serbia has exceptionally good position in the middle of central, eastern and southern Europe, which enables developing great economical and trading relations with European and non-European countries.

*Living in Serbia is very pleasant because of climate moderation. It is never too hot or too cold, there aren’t strong winds or many rainfalls.

*Serbia lies in northern belt of moderate heat . Its climate is characterized by moderately warm summers and moderately cold winters.

* Serbia’s climate is influenced by western winds such is kosava which brings cold and dry weather.

*Being open to north through Pannonian Basin, Sebia’s climate is also influenced by air masses coming from Siberia.
