M cKenney’s equipped a central plant and piped utilities to production lines for a food packaging manufacturer moving into a larger facility. THE CHALLENGE In a very short timeframe, the McKenney’s team had to build out the central plant and get every manufacturing line machine connected at the customer’s new packaging plant. There was no time for pipe prefabrica- tion at the McKenney’s corporate campus, and there were no drawings linking utilities to production line machines being moved from the customer’s old facility. THE SOLUTION To expedite the work, McKenney’s set up a fabrication shop on-site and drew spool sheets in the job trailer. To connect each machine, the foreman and project manager visited the old facility several times to deter- mine the utility needs for each production line. THE RESULTS The project was completed on time and under budget—exceeding the customer’s expectations. Pleased with the outcome, the owner decided to continue the relation- ship with McKenney’s on future projects.
