A brand is the identity of a specific product, service, or business, A brand can take many forms, including a name, sign, symbol, color combination or slogan. Brands can sell their item due to their name. Audiences have expectations of their brands therefore these brands need to do their best to fulfill the audience.

Our brand image:

Our main brand image was our choice of location, we chose to film most of the footage in a nightclub to create a sense of realism, the genre of our music video was dance/electro, many other artists such as Tiesto and Dizzee Rascal film their videos in dance clubs or underground raves, surrounded with high key lighting. The choice of location links back to our narrative in the video. In order to make our video stand out from the norm we used visual effects such as ‘solarize’ to create this.

Our magazine advert is similar to that of any other dance/grime artist in the sense that the close up shot we have used is created to enable the focus on the main protagonist and keep the poster simple as well as creating many enigmas. Location remains a vital part of our brand identity, from our research we have learnt that using costumes such as a dark (black) hoody on a light (blue) background works well as the colours symbolise the different emotions in our narrative. The use of the house and cigarette in our poster fits in well with our genre, as in the video evidence of social depression is seen.

As you can see this is the front cover of our album cover, we kept to the same costume as the video (black hoody) to create a sense of mystery throughout the narrative. The use of colouring is similar to that of our poster in which dark and neutral colours are used, this creates different emotions for our character and narrative, the use of a long shot to establish our character is different to that of our poster as we wanted to create a feeling of loneliness.

This is our back cover for our album, it has been edited to match our narrative, throughout our music video we have shot certain scenes in a black and white effect to allow the viewer to realise they are flashbacks. The choice of location is also vital as it is our brand identity, we chose to take this picture in a back alley which is in keeping with our social realism genre.

Overall I am pleased with our ancillary tasks and main product I feel our brand identity worked very well throughout the product. We used the black and white effect all the way through our products which was in keeping with our narrative. We kept our ancillary tasks simple but effective, therefore I feel it would fit perfectly with a ‘grime/dance’ artist.
