Preliminary – final product

Preliminary: The preliminary task of making a school magazine was very basic, with no actual research or planning put into it. It only took one hour to put together, along with getting used to Photoshop which I have never used before. The cover was very basic, I used a picture that had no editing or work put into it, and the sell lines are a dull and boring font, along with the masthead not being cut out properly.

Final product: The final product took a lot of effort and time to be able to get an achievable standard. From making my preliminary of a school magazine, to making the music magazine, my skills improved highly, from my use of Photoshop, to the skill of knowing about the genre of music and how they make a big input in certain music magazines. I have learned that no two music magazines are the same, coming from research of the magazine Q, NME, and Kerrang!, which all have a very similar genre, but very different layouts and colour schemes, which I think made an input to my magazine, as I wanted to also have my own style.

Preliminary – final product

Looking at both of the magazine covers side by side, there has been clear improvement of my skills in Photoshop, and my understanding of music magazines. The picture is much improved in ‘Dynamic!’, having been edited to fit the page perfect and stand out with a dark background, as the preliminary was the original photo background. Placing the main image over the title is much more appropriate for a magazine, as it makes it look more professional, a clear difference between the two magazines. The sell lines of my final product are much better than the preliminary, I have took the time to choose which font I wanted and what colours I was going to use, which helped me learn a lot more about Photoshop.
