  • 1.WHAT ARE STATES OF MATTER Gases, liquids and solids are all made up of microscopic particles, but the behaviors of these particles differ in the three phases.

2. EXAMPLES OF STATES OF MATTER Condensation, sublimation, deposition, evaporation, solidification, and melting. Solids: gold, rocks, metal, plastic, leather Liquids: water, mercury, oil, soda Gases: carbon dioxide, water vapor, smoke 3. OTHER EXAMPLES SolidLiquidGas 4. WHAT ARE SOLIDS? A solid has a definite shape. A solid has a definite volume. A solid has particles that are tight and close together such as the basketball, cubes, and rocks. 5. WHAT ARE LIQUIDS? They have definite volume but do not have a definite shape. The particles have a little bit of room to move. Some examples of liquids include water, juice, vinegar. 6. WHAT ARE GASES? They have no definite volume or definite shape. The particles can move around a lot and fill in the space. Some examples of gases are carbon dioxide, helium, and water vapor. 7. THE WAY THE MOLECULES MOVE
