With robust markets for solid biomass fuels such as pellets or briquettes, which are a bio

product formed from compressed wood or agricultural residue feedstock’s that are being used

as fuel for heating and co-firing with coal power plants, can greatly contribute to emission

reduction targets.

In Asia, Ecotech Alliance cultivates short term rotation crops like Napier grass and Kenaf which

can help utilities meet their carbon emission targets for electricity production. The integration

of biomass-fuelled gasifiers in coal-fired power stations could also be advantageous in terms of

improved flexibility in response to fluctuations in biomass availability and lower investment
