One of the worst moments in the
history of humanity...
1948
Europe is debilitated after the
war
The entire world is engulfed in an atmosphere of deep
hatred and distrust...
There is a general feeling of anger and hate among the countries involved ...
and an intense desire to avoid
another war at all costs
An entire generation of leaders are dead
A new generation of leaders would have to emerge from the universities with the responsibility of
rebuilding their countries
... it was necessary to prepare the youth of Europe
for the challenge awaiting them.
A small group of university students
discovers the solution that would help develop leaders
and alleviate the tensions amongst countries...
They created what would one day be the largest student
organization on the planet ...
This organization would allow students to gain
valuable leadership skills and reach a new level of cultural understanding
through the participation in an international work exchange
program
They created ...
1949
The original group of AIESEC members, 7 students from
different European countries, meet at the first International
Congress in Stockholm...
…and exchange 89 internships!
1953
AIESEC is already in 14 countries including the adversaries of the last
world war and one communist country (Yugoslavia)

AIESEC is present in Turkey
AIESEC is now considered International rather than
European
1957
AIESEC expands to the
AMERICAS !
AIESEC is established in South Africa, the first African nation to join the AIESEC network
1961
Tunisia becomes the first part of AIESEC in the

AIESEC expands to Japan

Decade of the 80s
1982-1987: Feasibility Studies started atESSEC-Douala, the Country Partner was AIESEC in
Germany 1988: Cameroon obtained the Full Member Status
during the 40 th International Conference at Boston ; USA.
1993: The Global Organisation in Cameroon registered on 180/RDDA/C19/BAPP/Wouri
Following the Presidential Decree of 1993 creating new universities, 3 new Local Committees (LC) were Opened: -LC Douala (1993)-LC Dshang (1993) -LC Buea (1994)

1994: AIESEC-UNCED (United Nation Conference of Environment
and Development), March 1994
1996: Forum on Social Development in Cameroon, a Youth Insight
2000: Seminaire Inter Universitaire sur la Creation d’Entrerise (SIUCE)
2004: Online Training on Corporate Responsibility (CSR) with World Bank2005: Cameroon Career Days _09th-10th December) Hilton Hotel Yaoundé African Excellence UBS (Union Bank of Swiss) Awards winner
2006: AfroXLDS
2006-2007: AIESEC Cameroon reach for the first time the result of 50 exchanges
