good for creating costume designs like this one as you can cut and paste different materials onto the character quickly and easily (when you know how to do it well).

This piece, done on Photoshop, is a design for thewoodland realm in the play “A Midsummer Nights Dream”by William Shakespeare.

We were given a list of plays to read and then had topick one to do some designs for. I chose “A MidsummerNights Dream”because of the rich use of imagery which lead to lots of ideas. I Feel very passionate about this play as well so I thought it would be good to design for a play I knew welland liked whilst trying out new techniques and processes.

3ds MaxThis program is useful for creating 3D set designs.

It is more accurate than a hand drawing and quicker.

This program is incredibly useful for lighting designers as you can do a lot of thing with different light settings to see how something might look.

Auto CAD

• Auto CAD is very useful for drawing technical drawings. It is very neat and always looks good.

• I found this program the easiest to use.

Auto CAD• You can make

allsorts of shapes and lines with this program and they will always be right.

• It is useful for drawing circles or anything that needs mirroring or repeating easily.

Auto CAD• It is also good

for annotation, and for putting measurements on because the program will automatically do it right and will work angles out for you.

Evaluation

• This has been a very quick introduction to these three computer programs.

• It has been good to see what you can do with these programs but I would not be confident enough to use them by myself. I do not feel like I have learnt anything I can take away from this project. Being shown how to do something in a crowded class room is not the best way.

• I feel I was able to follow the tutor during class but would have not been taught how to use the programs adequately by myself.

• For Photoshop and 3D Studio Max we were working in pairs (images are credited to both people). I did not find this helpful as you could not try things out as you were being taught while the other person was on the computer. Any of the drawings without names by them were done just by me.
