Mission Critical Apollo Sheet Metal, Inc. was founded in 1981, setting out to build on a vision by its owner Bruce Ratchford. Today, Apollo is a leader in the construction of mission critical health care and higher education facilities, as a full service mechanical contractor. As a young, aggressive and highly motivated company, Apollo seeks new opportunities to partner with other progressive companies and continue to grow into the next century across the United States and abroad.

Apollo has developed several techniques and skills that allow us to enter any marketplace, native or foreign, and perform our crafts in a productive and profitable manner. The Mission Critical market has been a large percentage of Apollo’s revenue and growth over the last two years. It is our opinion that this market will behave much like health care, in that there will be an ebb and flow, but the need will never disappear. Apollo has established strategic relationships with many leaders in the design and construction of mission critical facilities nationwide and continues to look for more partners in this market sector.

There are three main factors for Apollo’s success in this market sector:

These factors have allowed us to build significant projects in remote locations and do so profitably. We continue to outperform historical labor productivity benchmarks by more than 10% in this market sector, utilizing the local labor pools, on-site fabrication, and best-in-class 3-D modeling/coordination. In the following sections, you will learn how each of these three factors will benefit your company’s mission critical facilities.

Management Apollo Sheet Metal was founded by Bruce Ratchford in 1981. He is the owner of the company and directs the company in its daily functions. Bob Hightower is the Sr. Vice President of Apollo Sheet Metal and has been with Bruce since the beginning. Bob oversees the activities of each Apollo division and leads the company with several strategic relationships in most of its market sectors, including mission critical. Trey Bland, Operations Manager, works directly with Dan McCormick to ensure the teams are staffed with the proper mix of talent, both field and office. He also is responsible for all of our productivity tracking. Dan McCormick is the Division Manager for Hi-tech and Pre-construction and directly oversees all activity in mission critical facilities construction for Apollo Sheet Metal. Dan leads teams of Project Managers, Project Engineers, Mechanical Engineers and Designers, Pre-construction and Lead CAD Coordinators/Managers.

Team members are fluent in Primavera, QuickPen, Microsoft, AutoCAD and Navisworks, to name a few. Our backgrounds are as diverse as our clients. We proactively pair younger employees with more experienced counterparts, and continually match complimentary skill sets to provide our customers with reliable, energetic, experienced team players. Productivity KEY DIFFERENTIATORS:

On-Site Fabrication

Depending on site logistics and space allocation, Apollo will set up a conditioned fabrication facility either on site or nearby. With the use of our LCM 3-D coordinated drawings, we will produce Spool Fabrication Packets for utilization by the Fab Shop. Based on project schedule, Spool fabrication will be out ahead of the overall project construction. This allows our Field installation crews to set and push the pace of the project. The more product we pre fabricate lowers our total man hours, increases over all productivity, and reduces over all bodies in the construction area which in turn amounts to reduced costs and shorter project durations. This process also allows us to more closely monitor QA/QC, minimizing costly corrections in the field.

LCM Coordination

Apollo expects to serve as the Lead Coordination Manager (LCM) for all large projects we construct. Apollo uses Autodesk Building Systems 2007 and/or AutoCAD MEP 2008 software to create 3-D coordination drawings and would require participating contractors to use AutoCAD 2004 or newer. Navisworks software is used to perform the coordination, conflict identification and facilitate the conflict resolution. Utilizing an LCM and producing a fully coordinated package serves many purposes and brings many benefits to the team and customer. Constructing a 3-D virtual model provides the team with a clash free, fully coordinated design. Coordination and clash detection alone can save a project up to 5% in design costs and over 5% in the costs of construction through reducing wasted materials, reducing re-work, better understanding of the project by all, and accelerated scheduling. For Apollo directly, we utilize this model to develop our spool drawings that are then pre-fabricated in our shop and installed in the field.

Scheduling/Planning

ASM utilizes the Primavera P6.0 system as a company master scheduling and resource allocation tool. Our schedule will not only include the work of our trades but will also reflect the work of our LCM team and the work of our Fab Shop. In fact, we’ll run micro schedules for the LCM and Fab Shop and then tie them into a master schedule with the milestones of the primary mechanical trades on site. Our schedules are tracked daily

and updated weekly. We also require our foreman to utilize daily “Pre-task Plans” and a “One Week Planner”. Our Superintendant utilizes these plans to construct his 3-week look ahead. Operations will review the “Pre-task Plans” and “One Week Planner” sheets. Our goal is that more than 90% of the planned work is being performed. In the event that we are unable to get to a task, our “One Week Planner” directs the Foreman towards alternate work that can be tackled.

Leadership-Superintendents/General Foreman’s

The Project Superintendent is responsible for all day to day construction activities related to the implementation of the task order and insuring all company Safety and QA policies and procedures are followed. In addition, the Project Superintendent is responsible for all time keeping verification and submission. They will direct the work of the company through their selected General Foremen and Foremen. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining a “3-week Look Ahead” that will be utilized by the Project Manager for material flow and labor requirements. The General Foremen and Foremen will implement the daily “Pre-task Plans” and ensure production and quality is being met on a daily basis. Safety Apollo believes in an Injury Free Environment on all project sites and that all incidents and injuries are preventable and in 2007 was the 3rd Safest ranked contractor in the entire State of Washington. By having safety deeply ingrained in the culture of how we execute projects, many of the tasks we perform have multiple functions. Pre-task plans and hazard analysis involves not only what we have to perform, but also how can we perform it in the most productive and safe manner possible. By including all stake holders in the process, from the craft personnel to other contractors on site, Apollo is able to maintain high levels of productivity while insuring an injury free environment. Our safety program is built on the following four elements:
