MARKET UPDATES & STOCK RECOMMENDATION

The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI closed lower today, weighed by losses across the board and in

tandem with most Asian equity markets. The key index settled to its intra-day low of 1,824.32, down 9.22

points, after touching an intra-day high of 1,831.79 earlier.A dealer said market sentiment was dampened

by worries over easier global growth moving forward as the International Monetary Fund has trimmed its

global growth outlook for 2015 to 3.8 per cent from 4.0 per cent in an early estimate. However, Inter-

Pacific Research Sdn Bhd Head of Research Pong Teng Siew said today's selling activies were more muted

than yesterday's.

The ringgit closed lower against the US dollar today in line with other emerging Asian currencies amid

fears of slowing global growth, said a dealer. At 5pm, the ringgit was quoted at 3.2710/2740 against the

greenback compared with 3.2580/2600 on Tuesday. A dealer said the local currency opened lower at

3.2665 and dipped further to an intraday low of 3.2780 on expectation that the Federal Open Market

Committee minutes to be released tonight would be hawkish and strengthened the greenback further.

Malaysian rubber prices continued the uptrend today on buying support and despite the weak peer

markets, a dealer said. The Tokyo Commodity Exchange - a market trendsetter - however tumbled, due to

worries over China's economic development, as well as Thailand's move to sell its rubber inventory. The

noon benchmark Malaysian Rubber Board's official physical price for tyre-grade SMR 20 rose 2.5 sen to

460 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk was unchanged at 371 sen a kg. The 5pm unofficial closing price for tyre-

grade SMR 20 increased 4.5 sen to 463.5 sen a kg, while latex-in-bulk shed half-a-sen to 370.5 sen a kg.--

Bernama

LPI Capital Bhd posted a pre-tax profit of RM77.4 million for its third quarter ended September 30, 2014,

up 7.6 per cent from RM71.9 million in the same period last year. The company's revenue grew to

RM301.24 million from RM283.5 million in the same quarter last year. The group's strong performance

was contributed by the continued good results reported by its wholly-owned insurance subsidiary Lonpac

Insurance Bhd (Lonpac), the company said in a statement today.

The benchmark FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI remained in the negative territory at mid-afternoon, weighed

down by losses in select heavyweights and penny stocks. At 3.03pm, the key index shed 7.61 points to

1,825.93. Market breadth was negative with decliners thumping advancers by 971 to 46 while 135
