You think of nice new ideas, yet you

go for the old ones (known

solutions). To prevent that, a

classification can be made using a

matrix: the COCD-box*.

The matrix has 2 axis:

1. Originality

2. Ease of implementation

In the end there is only one key

factor which determines if an idea

can succeed: Passion !

YELLOW ideas- Ideas for the future- dream, challanges- stimulation for the brain- tomorrow’s red ideas

BLUE ideas- easy to implement- low risks- high acceptibility- done before

RED ideas- innovative ideas- breakthrough- exiting ideas- can be implemented

Nearling“ something that you did with the right intentions, which has not (yet) led to the right result “You can be proud of nearlings because:1. You started an initiative2. You may have moved others3. Maybe it led you to something that was successful4. You need many nearlings, for a few successes5. You learned from it6. ...The nearling emphasizes that initiatives are almost ALWAYS valuable, even if they don’t lead to the right result.

The nearling is an open source word, 21 Lobsterstreet wants to contribute to the innovation vocabulary by introducing this word. Spread the word, spread the nearling!

That’s not suitable for our clients

Already exists

Yes, butWe don’t have time for that

That’s not logical

Can’t be done

No

We need more research

The board won’t like it

Don’t make mistakes No budget

I am not creative

We’re too small for that

The old folks won’t use it

Not my responsibility

Since when did you become an expert?

Look at it realisticallyWe can do without

That’s in the plans for the future Let’s keep it in mind

Too difficult to control

The market is not ready for it

Has been tried before

It’s fine the way it is

No staff available

Too funny

Reasons why creativity & innovation don’t fly in your organisationLook out for the idea killers
