Education Slot 19/02/2015
Becky LadleyMembership Coordinator
Introduction
• The contribution round – a.k.a. that bit at the end when we pass round slips of paper
• This is not just aimed at newer members – older members still get things wrong some of the time
• Aims:• it’ll take me less than two hours to do the PALMS report every week• help you know what you can and can’t pass in the contribution round
What can I pass?
• Referral• Notification of a 1-2-1• Written testimonial• Thank You For The Business• Notification of a visitor
You should be bringing at least one of these every week
3 types:• To another member (most
common)• To a past or current visitor to our
chapter (VISITOR)• To an ex-member of our chapter
or current member of another chapter (BNI)
a.k.a. ANY business you wouldn’t have got, had you not been in BNI
Referrals• Triplicate slips: separate before giving
to the runners and keep the yellow
• Fill in at least:• From and To• Internal / External• Some form of contact
• Internal referrals are those for yourself/your business. External ones are for anyone else e.g. a family member, neighbour, work associate
F for handwriting…
Thank You For The Business (TYFTB)Include:• The name is the name of the
member who passed the referral that led to the business
• The amount is the value of the invoice (excluding VAT)
• Business should be recorded when you raise the invoice We have two Pauline Hs…
Visitors
• Only recorded on their first visit
• Pass a card notifying it just in case they didn’t sign in properly
Testimonials• Must be WRITTEN not spoken
• Typed up on headed paper
• Let the leadership team know you’re passing one so we can budget time for it
• Email them to Becky so she can upload them on the BNI website
• Also why not put it on their LinkedIn too…
Common mistakes• Peters and Darrens – we have two now! Also Pauline/Pauleen, Pauls…• In general, please put surnames or business names on!
• Messy handwriting• Make sure writing is clear on everything you submit
• Wrong things submitted as referrals• NOT an invitation to a 1-2-1• NOT a vague idea of someone you could maybe put them in
touch with• Genuine business leads or potentially valuable connections ONLY
