When on holiday in Chicago I took hundreds of images of the city in order to use in my ancillary projects. I narrowed these images down to a few favourites and then made my final choices. In order to edit my image for my magazine advert, I cropped the image to fit the A4 page and chose only tha main features of the photohrsph for my advert. Then, using a cooling photo filter I edited the colour of my image and brightened it, in order to enhance the colours and contrast the colour scheme to my digipack. This image represents a sunrise as opposed to the sunset shiwn on my digipack. I then cropped part of the sky and pasted it in three layers at the top of my image, in order to create some dimension to the image and break it up slightly. This also gave my image sections to divide my text between.

I edited my cover image in Photoshop. The first thing I did was use the Magnetic Lasso Tool to select the sky in my photo. I did this to edit that area solely and not the skyline. I applied an Orange Photo Filter and faded it slightly to give it a more natural appearance. I chose this filter to make the image appear to have been taken at sunset or dusk, relating to my video’s theme of nightlife and partying. I then inverted my selection to focus on the skyline of my image. Using the Brightness and Contrast tool, I increased the brightness slightly and also increased the contrast in order to add more definition to the buildings and enhance the shadows. This made the buildings match the sky as it seems as though the sun is setting.

For my back cover image, I used the same Photo Filter over the entire image to give a sense of continuity with the cover. However, I didn’t fade the effect as much on the back cover image as it was taken earlier in the day and therefore needed more colours in order to match the cover.

I applied the same photo filter to my CD image in order to make the image match all the others.

I applied a lighter filter on my inside image, as it is a panoramic image that will cover five inside ‘pages’. Therefore, I did not want the colour to be too overwhelming.
