About the Project:

Work carried out by O’Brien

O’Brien were acting principal contractor for the construction of a new 520 space car park with all site clearances and the removal of spoil to form a new “hill” for testing vehicles. Associated paths, lighting, CCTV and planting and the installation of an underground drainage system and storm attenuation to drain in to the existing drainage outfall were included.

The design was modified during the construction period to reduce future maintenance costs to the client by removing the gravel parking bays and replacing them with porous tarmac The 5200m2 car park was completed in 18 weeks and handed back to the client on time and budget.

Running concurrently with the car park, O’Brien Contractors were also responsible as principal contractor for the sub-structure element of the construction of a new 3 storey modular building for 750 persons and included all foundations, bridging of the existing data ducts, drainage and connection to existing storm system and the completion of a new 6m deep pumping chamber to allow the foul to be discharged to the foul drainage system, the installation of new services and sub-station and all finishes to the perimeter of the building.
