Truck Service Requirements
Today’s Service Requirements Include:
•A “Sufferance Bonded” Off-dock container terminal to enable customers to pre-stage import/export cargo to coincide seamlessly with their production/cargo flow requirements.
•The integration of Off-Dock and trucking services to eliminate the uncertainty of the transfer of containers between the port and the customers doors on a 24/7 basis.
•The resources, technology, knowledge and operating processes to manage the peaks of each customer’s business
•Understanding all facets of the customer’s Supply Chain to ensure the right solution is chosen to fit the requirements of the customer’s supply chain.
•Performing services as a component of the customer’s business
•The ability to foresee changes to market needs and to plan ahead for them: Night gates - weekends

Features of HLCSI’s Computer Technology
• Integrates job order, dispatch, navigation, truck chassis and container tracking, messaging, wage capture, billing and accounting system.
• Combines the dispatch functions and the tracking of all trucks, chassis and containers on a real time basis using GPS technology.
• Uses geo fencing to capture cycle times at all port and rail facilities plus at HLCSI’s Off dock terminal and other high activity locations such as Cross Border points
• Bar coding technology to track the deployment and location of our fleet of over 300 chassis
• PDA’s (personal data assistant devices) used by drivers:
To receive dispatch assignments
To relay messages pertaining to each assignment
To obtain electronic signatures for the receipt of containers by customers.

• Enables the Company to track and monitor the actual location and status of every truck in the fleet.
• Provides the ability for customers to track the status of their shipments in real time using web based technology.
• The system is unique to Harbour Link and is designed to optimize dispatch, driver communication, truck turn-around, transport security, driver safety and to maximize two way movements and overall trucking performance.
• The system was adapted from a system used in Europe by the courier sector.
• The system was developed jointly by the UK supplier and Harbour Link to fit the unique requirements of the NA container drayage sector.
