The Black Friday Deal

• Black Friday deals on desktops, laptops, tablets and hybrids are extremely tricky to navigate.

• A rock-bottom price may lure you, but the scarce descriptions and exaggerated promises offered by the retailers might leave you with a system that is underpowered.

• But note that most of these prices, won't be live until the day after Thanksgiving.

“The only thing that doesn’t change in this world is the word change itself”

11-inch MacBook Air ($779 at Best Buy)

• The MacBook Air gets my eyebrows raised up being the single most universally useful laptop you can buy at lower price.

• The 11.6-inch version of this masterpiece is normally $899, but it stands at $779 at Best Buy, and so it's a rare chance to pick one.

• The 13-inch sibling of the same Book is also currently discounted by at least $100 from its usual $999 price at Best Buy.

15-inch HP Envy ($499 at Best Buy)

• This cute little performer has nice mainstream components, with a touch screen for below $500 at Best Buy. I would call this as go-to midsize laptop for that price.

• The Costco will have an upgraded version of this (Core i7, with more RAM and bigger hard drive) for $650, which is $150 off the usual price.

The Envy line is really a finest laptop series from HP, and particularly the 13-inch version of this is one of my favourite choice.

Dell Inspiron 15R ($549 at Walmart.com)

• The Dell Inspiron is never particularly exciting, but usually have a good value.

• This Walmart online-only deal (till supplies last!) is for a fairly tricked out 15-inch laptop, with an Core i7 processor and a spacious enough 1TB hard drive for $549, or about $180 off the usual price.

Asus X205TA ($99 at Staples)

• I usually advise the Black Friday shoppers to stay away from the cheapest of the cheap gadgets, as even spending around $200 on downgraded laptop will end up disappointing everyone.

• This 11inch Asus breed has an Intel Atom processor with a 2GB RAM, but only a 32GB SSD, of which Windows 8 will probably eat up half of its tummy.

Microsoft Surface 2 ($299 at Best Buy)

Where in this world could someone use RT devices any more (it's a crossed-down version of Windows 8), but the Surface 2 is still holding it tight.

Though not being the most useful slate ever, but at a discounted price of $299 ($150 off the usual price), I can see this as a premium levelled travel system.

The best part of using MS RT is that Microsoft Office is pre-installed in the device.

So, no need of worrying about it. But the fact that the keyboard is sold separately makes you really worried about I suppose.

Toshiba C55 ($399 after rebate at Staples)

• The Toshiba c55 is a 15-inch laptop that is made of basic plastic material with a mainstream component of Core i5 CPU from Intel and a 1TB hard drive from Seagate.

• Actually it stands for $550, but there's a $50 "easy rebate," so depending on how easy it is it's a impending deal.

Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro ($999 at Best Buy)

• It's a year old, but has a powerful Core i7 processor and a double XL sized 256GB SSD.

• It's also a hybrid that can fold down into a kiosk or a tablet that is very well-made.

• The usual price of the configuration comes around $1200 but they offer their best class deal.

This is a high-end configuration of an excellent breed from Lenovo, one of the top PCs of the year 2013.

Origin PC (free Steam gift card)

• The Origin PC makes some excellent but relatively costlier gaming PCs, including desktops and laptops.

• You can never find a door buster-level deal, but any built to order computer will come with a $50 Steam gift card to help kick off your PC game collection, plus free ground shipping, which can run $50 and up (the free shipping code is Fall2014).

Dell Inspiron 15 ($189 at Dell)

• This is a very basic Celeron processor system, that is paired up with a standard 500GB hard drive.

• With a larger 15-inch display it's going to feel very underpowered, but it's hard to argue with the price as a dead basic system for simple web-surfing or for setting up as a tabletop Netflix player.
