Our Wines

With just nine wines in our range at Ata Rangi, along with occasional releases of limited-volume offerings for our mail order customers, it's possible to stay 'hands-on' and to give both vines and wines the attention they deserve. In all our wines we aim for fine balance, with structures and textures that deliver far more satisfying, almost more savoury, mouth-filling experiences than wines that rely mainly on youth and 'pretty' aromatics.

Ata Rangi is a small New Zealand winey with a huge reputation for its Pinot Noir. In producing our two pinots, grapes from vines that range in age from 10 - 30 years are meticulously hand-

sorted as they arrive at the winery, with individual blocks and clones fermented separately. About ten months later a blind tasting, barrel by barrel, decides the first ‘cut’. Younger vine fruit tends to end up in Crimson while the original 30-year old home block ‘Gumboot Clone’ and best plots of Dijon Clone invariably reach the quality level we seek in the main label Ata

Rangi Pinot Noir.

Toast Martinborough

Toast Martinborough is a unique event that few other areas in the wine world can emulate, not only because of our unique location, but also thanks to the

collaboration and cooperation of a great community. Our village with its many small, quality-focused wineries within walking distance of one another is

clearly 'made' for Toast Martinborough, New Zealand's premier Wine Food and Music festival and the definitely the most enduring and successful in the

country.
