Boston’s Leader in Making College Aspirations
Affordable
OUR VISION:
We imagine a day when every young person in Boston reaches
their fullest potential by graduating
from college, regardless of their
family’s financial capacity or college experience.
A college education can end poverty in a family line…
• College graduates earn $1 million more over a lifetime
• College graduates are:•Four times as likely to be employed•Less than half as likely to be arrested
• 75% of fastest growing jobs require a college education
…but the financial barriers to college are higher than ever
•Since 1985, the cost of a public higher education has tripled, a private one has doubled
•Last year’s BPS grads will self-finance $11,700 per year of their college education
•Pell Grant covers 36% of college costs today, as compared to 76% in 1980
