Step 1: Plan
The first step when managing resources isplanning.
You need to calculate the amount ofresources required to get the job done.
Consider:- What skills are needed?- How many resources you will need for eachtask?- The availability of the resources.
Step 2: Acquire
There are two ways to get the resources thatyou need:
- Request their services by either using yourcompany's process or simply asking!- Hire the right people to fill any gaps.
Use onboarding documents to inform newproject members about the specifics of theproject.
Step 3: Notify
Now that you have planned and acquiredthe resources, you should notify them oftheir tasks.
Three mechanisms to do this include:
1. Continuous involvement 2. Kick-off meeting 3. Email reports.
Once you notify your team of their tasks,you can start working on the project.
Step 4: Retain
Retaining your resources is key for projectsuccess.
You can:
- Use team-building activities such asmeetings and outings to unite your group
- Provide training and encourage yourresources to upskill
- Assess the performance of your resourcesand give feedback.
