• Costumes (preferably a child)• Candy bags• Flashlights• Reflective clothing• A preplanned route• Buddies system

• Adequate eye-opening
• Whether appropriate
Candy bags/flashlights
• Candy bag should be age-appropriate
• Made of durable material
• Flashlights are important
• If it’s possible where reflective materials
What to do
• Explain the rules• Plan a route• Decide on a emergency meeting point• Understand candy safety• Discuss Manners
Explain the rules• Explain to the children what is expected of
them
• Where they are to meet in case of an emergency
• That they are not to eat any of the candy until it is inspected
• The importance of staying with their buddy
Plan a route
• Keep it simple
• Familiar area
• Adequate lighting
Emergency meeting point
• A familiar, safe and easy location to meet
Candy safety
• Explain the dangers
• Learn to spot tampered packages
• Take no risk
Discuss manners
• Remember to say “Trick-or-Treat”

• Wait your turn
• Walk on the sidewalk
