4 TRENDS THAT WILL INFLUENCE
SMALL BUSINESSES IN 2015Tips, suggestions, and inspiration from GennGlobal
INTRODUCTION
The beginning of a new year is the best time to look
ahead and prepare for the future—this is especially
true for small business owners.
2015 looks to be a year of many changes, and
small business owners must adapt to these
changes to keep their businesses going.
Next, we will discuss 4 projected trends for 2015
that will influence small businesses around the
world.
“BUY BUTTONS” ON SOCIAL MEDIA
As early as the summer of 2014, social media
websites started experimenting with the option of
adding “buy buttons” to their websites.
A “buy button” is a functionality that allows social media
users to make purchases on another site without having
to leave their social media platform.
The potential for omnipresent one-click purchases
on social media sites would revolutionize the world
of e-commerce.
Business insiders expect this technology to launch
sometime in 2015.
THE VALUE OF MILLENNIALS
Millennials, referring to the people born roughly
between the years of 1981 and 2000, are a
valuable demographic with a lot of buying power.
Worldwide, millennials have a net worth of roughly
$2.45 trillion dollars.
With so much buying power, millenials as a
demographic cannot be ignored.
Therefore, it is crucial to include - if not exclusively
cater to - millennials in your marketing strategy.
OPTIMISTIC SMALL BUSINESS OWNERS
Small business owners are largely optimistic about
2015.
Why is there optimism for this year specifically?
According to a CAN Capital Small Business Health
Index survey, 40% of small business owners believe
they can grow their businesses in 2015 utilizing new
advertising and marketing opportunities.
It is fair to suggest that some of this optimism
comes from the growing options for advertising and
marketing small businesses are seeing.
One example of a new marketing strategy is the “buy
buttons” we discussed earlier.
ANALYTICS DATA WILL BE A VITAL TOOL
As with many things, having more information available to you allows for smarter decision-making.
This is true for all businesses, and especially important for small businesses, where there is less room for error.
Utilizing analytics data will allow your small business to learn more about its customers’ ecommerce experiences, what demographics you currently cater to most, and much more.
Luckily, there are many big data tools that are very affordable, including Google Analytics, Tranzlogic, and others.
