Encompass• £1.9m Knowledge Transfer and Economic Development
Project funded over 3 years from November 2011 – recently extended to February 2015
• Collaboration between Universities of Glasgow, Strathclyde, Aberdeen and Stirling
• Funded by ERDF, SE, SFC and the University partners• Aim:
– to stimulate SMEs in Scotland to engage in innovation– to build relationships and facilitate collaborations with our academic
partners

Support• Dedicated staff at Glasgow, Strathclyde and Aberdeen
– provide One to One support to SMEs
• Facilitating SME engagement with our academics to assist in:– developing or improving products and processes– helping to solve problems– building long term relationships
• Identifying potential funding options for collaborations – Encompass Awards, SFC vouchers, University Funding, TSB,
Government Funding Schemes, Knowledge Transfer Partnerships
• Assistance in completion of funding applications

Easy Access IP • Only a small proportion of university-generated IP is ever
commercialised • Easy Access IP makes IP that won’t be commercialised by the
university available:– free-of-charge– to businesses and individuals who can demonstrate how they would use it to
benefit the economy and society
• Aims to maximise partnership opportunities with industry and stimulate the transfer of university knowledge for public benefit
