METEHAN Ç. SONBAHAR

Metehan provides contracts and claims management, dispute resolution and arbitration, quantum and programme management services to clients in Turkey and internationally. He holds an M.Sc. in Civil Engineering from the University of Reading and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, Chartered Institute of Building, Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers, the international Dispute Board Federation, Dispute Resolution Board Foundation and the Society of Construction Law.Metehan has extensive experience in preparing contracts and sub-contracts, preparing detailed claim files and requests for additional compensation and extension of time for major international contractors. He has experience working in Afghanistan, Djibouti, France, Georgia, Iraq, Italy, the Kyrgyz Republic, the Netherlands, Oman, Romania, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Spain, Turkey, Turkmenistan, the U.A.E. and the U.S.Metehan now regularly advises on contractual claims, disputes, planning & programming and quantum issues on major projects in Turkey and throughout the Middle East and Africa. He has a proven ability to provide expertise in construction contracts, claims and international arbitration cases involving construction disputes. Metehan has provided a range of training workshops and lectures in contract and dispute management disciplines relating to the international construction industry. These disciplines include FIDIC Conditions of Contract, management of construction contracts and contract claims & disputes, with particular emphasis on the FIDIC Conditions of Contract. Metehan also provides consultancy services to clients in the construction, civil engineering and building & energy sectors, with respect to management of PPP structures, drafting of construction & consultancy contracts, claims and disputes, and in respect to planning, delay & quantum analysis and cost control. He has participated in numerous construction disputes and arbitration cases, some of which involved projects financed by the Asian Development Bank, JBIC, European Union and the World Bank and concerned disputes in various sectors, including highways & bridges, light railways, residential buildings, shopping malls, army camps and water distribution projects. These projects were located both in Turkey and abroad, including countries in Europe, the Middle East and the CIS.

2. The booking fee, discounts and cancellation:2.1. A delegate being re-registered for the same seminar previously attended by him or her

within the last 3 years is entitled to a 50% discount. The previous attendance certificate must be attached to the registration form.

2.2. The event fee, which must be paid in full before a place can be confirmed, is non-refundable, subject to the following conditions:

2.2.1. Payment of the seminar fee (or, if agreed by Hill International Training Excellence, the official purchase order) must be received by Hill International Training Excellence prior to the seminar. The attendance certificate will only be issued after attendance at the seminar and payment of the seminar fee has been received. For this purpose, each delegate must sign the Attendance Register and complete a Seminar Appraisal form. Hill International Training Excellence reserves the right to refuse admittance to any seminar of any deligate whose seminar fee has not been paid.

2.2.2. The full seminar fee is payable if a delegate cancels less than 7 days prior to the seminar. A substitute delegate is welcome up to 24 hours prior to the seminar provided the seminar fee has been paid.

3. The Programme:3.1. Part of the benefit of Hill International Training Excellence seminars comes from the

interaction between delegates. Should HIll International Training Excellence believe that the number of delegates for any seminar is insufficient for this purpose, Hill International Training Excellence reserves the right:

• to postpone the seminar to a later stage, and• to refund in full any payments received from delegates should the delegates not wish

to attend the future seminar.
