Changes
• Tell us about your background and the changes you’ve seen in the past few years?– Kazda:I’ve been in the automotive business
since 1984, with Saturn of St. Paul since 1992 and now the Reconditioning Used Car Manager for Saint Paul Autos serving three dealerships in the Twin Cities area. We keep an active inventory of about 150 vehicles and turn the lots at least every 30 days. In the past, I’d had to personally travel to auctions, mainly in Michigan and Ohio. Now, using the internet and working with ShipCarsNow, I can easily and affordably purchase the inventory we need from auctions as far away as California, Nevada, Florida and Texas.

• How is working with ShipCarsNow different than working with truck drivers? – Kazda: Speed and communication are the two most important differences.
In the past we were somewhat reluctant to buy anything out of California. Even when we paid a truck driver a premium we were usually lucky to see a vehicle in four to six weeks. Now, from the day I buy one to the day I get it is somewhere in the 21 to 25 day range. Knowing when I’m going to get a vehicle also means a lot. Usually when I called a truck driver he might call back in a day or two. There just wasn’t a lot of personal service, especially if you’re only shipping one or two cars. Now, if I need an update, I just call or email my ShipCarsNow representative or go to the web site and track my shipment online.

The Benefits
• What are some additional benefits of working with ShipCarsNow?– Kazda: At first we didn’t know that shipping
by rail was an alternative. We didn’t know the rail cars were enclosed or that the damage rate was so extremely low. We were also surprised how affordable it could be, even if you’re only buying one here and one there. Remember, when you’re dealing with wholesale cars, you’re not dealing with a whole lot of margin.
