The 7-seater Mahindra Thar has three doors two at the front and one at the rear. There are three

comfortable seats at the front. The rear seats are longitudinally placed and are fully foldable to

make it in to a large cargo space. To make the car cheap many of the comfort and safety features

are done away with. A simple instrument panel and a dash board with blower and heater

controls are provided in the DI versions. The CRDe version has a manual AC. As there is no

power steering the wheel is big enough to allow easy maneuvering for the DI variants. A rack

and pinion power steering system with 9” booster is provided for CRDe versions.

Engine

The Thar has two engine versions. The Thar CRDe is powered by 2500 cc, 105 bhp, 247 NM

torque engines and the DI versions by 2523 cc, 63 bhp, 182 NM torque engines. The CRDe

engine with drive-by-wire technology helps in fuel economy and faster throttle response. CRDe

versions give a mileage of 16.55 kmpl and a top speed of 124 kmph .The DI variants have

mileages of 18.06 kmpl and top speeds of 100 kmph.

Verdict
